Hyundai WRC drivers were on fire today because they were finally able to match the pace of Toyota Yaris Rally1 machinery and with Ott Tanak leading and Adrien Fourmaux in 2nd place.
OK, there was road cleaning helping them because it is not the same to drive on the road full of lose stones and on the clean surface but sometimes there is thing called luck to help you. And luck was on the side of Tanak and Fourmaux.
But the rally is still in the early phases because there are two more days of competition ahead and anything can happen. Hyundai has reliability problems and their cars must survive the tough and rough Greek gravel.
Championship leader Elfyn Evans (Toyota) is in 4th place with super clever drive because he was opening the road and cleaning for the whole day.
The one who impressed me the most is the Gregoire Munster of M-Sport Ford with 5th place and it would be good for him to keep that place until the end.
As I said, rally is still very long and anything can happen. There you drive with the brain and not only with the right foot heavy on the throttle.
