Don't go up, mommy 🥹

Have you ever felt or observed your pet's concern for you? They feel emotions, and they may not be rational like humans, but there is no doubt that they feel jealousy and anxiety for their human families.

My dog Duke has been afraid of metal stairs since he was a puppy. He never learned to climb them, and he gets very anxious when he realizes I'm climbing them. His reaction is to bark, cry, and try to climb, but he can't do it. It seems like he's yelling at me with his eyes, “Get down from there, mommy, don't hurt yourself.” He just clings to the steps and barks desperately until I turn to look at him and get down.

This is strange, since he climbs normal cement stairs and is not afraid of heights, but he doesn't like to see me on a ladder, and I have to climb up every so often to clean the roof of my grandmother's house and also pick some papaya fruit.

The other day, I climbed the ladder, and from up there, he looked so cute that I climbed down, grabbed my phone, and climbed back up to take these photos. I tried to show him that I'm fine, acting confident so he'd understand that nothing bad will happen to me, but he doesn't calm down until I'm back on the ground.

¿Alguna vez has sentido u observado la preocupación de tu mascota por ti? Ellos sienten emociones y alomejor no sean racionales como los humanos, pero de que sienten celos y también nervios por sus familias humanas no hay duda.

Mi perro Duke desde cachorro le teme a las escaleras metálicas, nunca aprendió a subir y le da mucha ansiedad cuando se da cuenta de que me subo, su reacción es ladrar, llorar e intentar subir, pero no logra hacerlo, parece que con su mirada me grita “bájate de allí mami, no te lastimes”, él solo se engancha en los peldaños y ladra desesperadamente hasta que voltee a verlo y me bajo.

Esto es extraño, ya que él sube escaleras de cemento normal, no le teme a las alturas, pero no le gusta verme en una escalera y tengo que subirme cada cierto tiempo para limpiar el techo de la casa de mi abuela y también agarrar algunos frutos del mamón.

En estos días me subí a la escalera y desde arriba se veía tan lindo, que me bajé y busqué mi celular para volver a subir y tomarle estas fotos. Yo traté de mostrarle que estoy bien, me muestro segura para que entienda que no me pasará nada malo, pero él no se termina de tranquilizar sino hasta que estoy en el suelo.
