Hey Hive friends!! 😊
Just wanna share something simple but super fun that happened today. Me, my mama, and my baby boy Xansus went to one of our favorite places in Surigao City Riclens Ukay-Ukay!!!😍
if you’re not familiar with ukay-ukay, it’s a secondhand shop where they sell used clothes, shoes, bags, and sometimes even bedsheets or home stuff.. The items come from other countries, and most of the time, they are still in really good condition. Plus the prices are soooo low. Like, seriously. You can find clothes for just ₱5 pesos. 😱
Our Bong With Mama (hehe bonding time!)
Every time we go to Ric & Lens (that’s the full name — Ric & Lens Ukay-Ukay), it’s a little adventure. I always look forward to it coz it’s our “bong” time with Mama — you know, bonding! 😄
The shop is located at Borromeo Street in Surigao City, and even if the weather today was cloudy and rainy, there were still so many people! Like wow. I guess everyone loves a good ukay-ukay trip, rain or shine 🌧️
We brought umbrellas, but we didn’t mind the rain. Once we arrived, we saw the familiar colorful tarpaulin signs, and the smell of fresh “ukay” (haha yes, it has its own smell lol) made us excited. 😅
As soon as we stepped inside the shop, me and Mama went full ukay mode 😂 We were going through the racks, digging through bundles of clothes — og ilog gyud sa uban hahaha! (We were kinda fighting over clothes with some other customers, in a fun way only okay hehe.)
Everyone was friendly though. Some customers were laughing and helping each other. But when they bring out new bundles, OMG — chaos!!! People rush to get the best clothes first 😂
One tita was like, “Ayy kani ako na ni ha!” (this is mine) while holding up a cute floral blouse. Another mama said, “Nag-una ko ani oy!” Hahaha grabe! But it’s all fun — no drama, just good vibes.
The Prices? Soooo Worth It 😍
Here’s the best part: the prices! Omg I swear you’ll be shocked. Here’s what we saw today:
Bedsheets – ₱100 only! (And they look new!)
Jeans and trousers – ₱35
Blouses and t-shirts – ₱15
Jackets – ₱15
Some tops and skirts – as low as ₱5 pesos!!!
Like… WHERE ELSE can you find prices like that?? 😭
Even if you bring ₱100 pesos, you can go home with a big ukay bag already! That’s why we always love coming here.
plus, the owner is really nice. Sometimes, she gives us early access to the new bundles, and that’s when we find the best pieces! She even laughs with us when we get excited over a cute jacket or a branded blouse... 🥹
Xansus and the Other Kids 💙
Of course, my little boy Xansus also had a great time. He’s not really into clothes yet (he’s just a kiddo hehe), but he loved playing with the other children inside the shop. Some parents bring their kids too — especially when they are looking for kids’ clothes and checking the sizes.
The kids were playing tag in between the racks 😂 So funny to watch. One little girl tried on a jacket and said, “Mama, like Dora the Explorer ko ani!” Sooo cute haha.
I gave Xansus a snack while me and Mama continued ukay-ukay hunting. Sometimes he would call me like, “Mamaaa look at this!” while showing a weird-looking hat or stuffed toy. Love these little moments. 🥰
Why We Love Ric & Lens Ukay-Ukay 💖
There are sooo many reasons why this place is special to us:
Affordable prices – Like hello, ₱5?? Where else can you shop like that?
Still nice quality – Some clothes are branded pa, and still look new!
Fun bonding with Mama – We laugh, talk, and get silly trying on outfits.
unexpected finds you never know what treasure you’ll see!
Local vibe – The people, the atmosphere, everything feels homey.
And even if we don’t buy a lot, we always enjoy the experience. That’s the magic of ukay-ukay.... 🛍️
What We Bought Today 🛒
Wanna know what we got? Here’s a mini ukay haul:
mama got a floral blouse and two pairs of pants
I found a denim jacket (so cute!!) and a comfy t-shirt
We also bought a soft purple bedsheet for just ₱100
Plus some little tops and skirts for ₱15 or less — steal deal!
All in all, we only spent around ₱250 pesos but we went home with a full bag of clothes and happy hearts 💕😄
After shopping, we walked a bit under the rain, laughing and talking about our best finds. We stopped by a street food vendor and bought banana cue and kwek-kwek for merienda. So perfect for the weather!
Xansus was sleepy already, so we headed home. Mama was happy, I was happy, and our ukay bag was full — what more can you ask for?
Life doesn’t always have to be big and fancy to be happy. Sometimes, all you need is:
- A secondhand shop
- A few coins in your wallet
- Good company
- And the joy of finding little treasures 💖
Riclens Ukay-Ukay may not be a mall or a fancy boutique, but to us, it’s a place full of laughter, memories, and surprises…
So if you ever find yourself in Surigao City, try to drop by Ric & Lens Ukay-Ukay at Borromeo Street.. Bring your mom, your kids, or your friends...
Who knows??? You might find the perfect blouse, a vintage dress, or even just a good laugh.
'Til our next ukay adventure! 😄
Thanks for reading! 🫶
