Pavel Durov on privacy rights

Hello!

Pavel Durov wrote a very sad tweet that shows what kind of world we are slowly moving into.
He explained that the European Union almost passed a law that would allow apps to scan every private message, I could not believe it.
They were really about to destroy privacy for millions of people and call it "security"!!
That is not security. That is control, fucking bastards!

France was the one pushing hardest for this law. The same country that always talks about liberty, equality, and human rights. Yet their ministers, Bruno Retailleau and Laurent Nuñez, supported an idea that would let the police see everyone’s private chats. The worst part is that their messages and the messages of other officials would be exempt. So basically, they want to spy on citizens but keep their own secrets safe. How fair is that?

They say it is to stop crime, but we all know criminals can use VPNs, Tor, or private networks. This type of law never hurts real criminals, it only punishes normal people. Ordinary citizens who just want to talk, share photos, and live freely would be the ones at risk. Your private conversations, your photos, your data – all open for someone to see. That is not acceptable.

Germany’s decision to stop this was one of the few bright things in this story. It saved privacy, at least for now. But let’s be honest, they will try again. When power tastes surveillance, it never stops. They will come back with a new name, a new excuse, but the same plan: total control.

This is why I respect what Durov and Telegram did. They stood for something that matters. Privacy is not a luxury or a privilege; it is a basic human right. Without privacy, there is no freedom, no independence, no trust. People must wake up and see what’s happening. Governments pretend to protect you, but what they really want is to monitor you.

If we don’t defend privacy now, one day we will look back and realize it was already gone!
Dark times ahead...
