On a quiet and humid morning, I found a tawny coster butterfly sunbathing in the morning sun among the thickets of wild leaves still wet with morning dew. The butterfly looked very calm there and it was not disturbed by my presence there. Behind its calm and peaceful attitude, there was a pair of wings that were never still, constantly moving, opening and closing. That made it a little difficult for me to photograph it.
Look when its wings are wide open showing its beautiful patterns and colors. Bright orange decorated with solid black spots that look so striking. On the edge of its wings, there is a dark frame decorated with faded orange dots that look very contrasting. If we look closely, the beautiful pattern is like a painting of ink dots on a bright orange canvas. The colors and patterns it has are truly captivating to the eye. I am sure that many eyes are captivated, not just insect lovers.
In Latin, this butterfly is known as Acraea terpsicore, which is one of the butterflies that is easy to find and recognize in the wild and it comes from the Nymphalidae family. This butterfly is not only attractive in terms of the beauty of its colors and patterns, but it is also attractive because of its extraordinary role. It is a true pollinator who works selflessly.
To find this butterfly does not necessarily have to go to the wild forest, in the colorful flower garden there are also. However, this butterfly is easier to find in the wild grass area with fresh leaves, like the one I found here.
