Strolling along the banks of the Manzanares River has become a regular habit of mine ever since I discovered how relaxing it is. Watching the water flow peacefully brings me a sense of calm, and Ayacucho Square gives me the chance to enjoy this urban landscape, which I’ve rediscovered by focusing on what the place has to offer.

Walking around here means connecting with nature, taking a break from the virtual world and screens for a good while, and admiring the tall trees and beautiful flowers—their shapes, textures, and colors captivate my attention. Contemplating this reality is an investment in living life to the fullest, and it allows me to see that I can break free from technology if I choose to.

From this vantage point, you can see the Guzmán Blanco Bridge and the various passersby moving about the city center, where the city bustles with daily activities. Here, however, peace reigns, and the birdsong fills the air; even the murmur of the river penetrates my senses, and I can take a deep breath in awe of the grandeur of this ecosystem.

The river’s embankments, built with stone walls resembling trenches, also serve as large planters to protect trees, plants, and shrubs. As I watched the water flow by, I noticed how the shadows of the trees’ foliage danced, casting vibrant patterns.

I enjoy walking around here because the plaza is very lively; there are always people engaged in different activities—seniors playing board games, young people doing tricks on their skateboards, children running around, and, of course, people coming and going from downtown.

Exploring is something I thoroughly enjoy; I set out with a curious eye, ready to discover something new along the way and experience pleasant sensations. If we’re able to sharpen our senses, we awaken our sense of wonder—that innate quality we have as children.
