My Walk Along the Pier (Eng/Esp)

in Worldmappin11 days ago

English version

My restless feet urged me to keep walking until I reached the wooden pier. After passing through the rocky area, I thought I had already overcome the biggest obstacle and that the trail would be smooth sailing from there on out; however, I was wrong—a new challenge lay ahead: another ring of rocks, this time guarded by a dog. I walked past very carefully, and apparently he took a liking to me because he didn’t attack me.

Finally, I walked along the boardwalk. The wood was uneven and didn’t look very safe; the planks showed the wear and tear of the elements. Although the beach remained calm, you could sense that it was a natural force lying dormant—overwhelming and beautiful. Nearby were several boats with fishermen rowing toward the shore.

Unlike other beaches along the same road, Maigualida is a beach that drops off sharply just a few meters from the shore—in other words, it’s deep—so you need to be careful with children and teenagers, who tend to be reckless. The drop-off is sudden, which can take those unfamiliar with these waters by surprise. There are also crab holes in the sand, so if you step on one, you might be in for an unpleasant surprise.

After exploring the pier, I walked along the sand, where I came across a very curious native chicken that wanted to be my travel companion—which I found quite amusing. I was also drawn to a creeping plant with cream-colored flowers that looked as if they were made of crepe paper; nature never ceases to amaze me.

Maigualida is an exotic beach; from every angle, you get a wonderful view of the seascape. When I arrived, my view to the east was blocked by the wall of the food processing plant, but once I got past it, I was able to capture the fascinating images I’m sharing with you—postcard-perfect scenes from a beautiful morning on the Sucre coast.
