Another iconic site in Tocuchare (Eng/Esp)

English version

During my visit to the community of Tocuchare, I had the opportunity to take a walk around the sports field. This spot is more than just a place to play sports; it serves as a landmark for the entire area, signaling to visitors that they have arrived at the beach and its tourist attractions. This field is very picturesque; the color scheme and its contours make it truly unique, and it radiates joy just by looking at it.

The field has been recently restored; its previous version did not have the graffiti or the artificial turf that surrounds it now. Everything looks impeccable, which shows that the residents—including the athletes—have taken good care of the area. The field also serves as a gathering place for families, who meet there to watch practices and games, as well as to participate in various events organized by the community.

In the signature style of urban artist Memín, who was entrusted with the task of painting the court, we can see various sports symbols standing out on the walls and, of course, the name “Tocuchare” taking center stage. Intense, vibrant colors like yellow, orange, red, blue, and green are combined using graffiti techniques to make a striking impression.

From inside the playground and its surroundings, you have a privileged view of the mountain located alongside Troncal 9 Highway; the view is breathtaking—it feels so close that it seems within reach. I remember when I used to pass by here and all I saw was a large plot of land with a small playground featuring two swings and a merry-go-round; it was also common to see goats roaming freely. It was basically the playground for the Luis Felipe Brión School, and on either side you could see very modest homes.

Over time, almost everything has been renovated: modern homes, inns, paved streets, quality public services, and a community that has come together to promote tourism and thus present a new image of the area. At the sports field, a sign expresses gratitude to the municipal government and the “Mi cancha bonita” program, which made this renovation possible; the project was completed earlier this year.
