The Splinterlands Gazette - Pickles, The Academy, And Remarkable Packs

in #splinterlands8 days ago

The Splinterlands Conclave Arcana chase is on. The seals are breaking, chaos is spilling in, and arcane power surges through every pack. It's time for a self-assessment, to see if I should be concerned I spread too much during the pre-sale!

Pack opening isn’t just a drop...it’s a summoning. As the portal opens, ancient forces emerge, twisted by shadow and fuelled by magic. The cards crackle with power. The gifts are real. And the chase has begun.

The Splinterlands are alive with arcane energy, and Conclave Arcana is more than just a set... it’s the spark of a chaotic new chapter. Every pack is a plunge into the unknown, where magic warps reality and every pull feels like a relic from a forgotten realm.

We are waiting for a magic pickle, and the snapshot was taken. Soon we will be able to buy one very cheap, for each thousand SPS staked in-game. How many will you get?

Until the salty pickels will land into the Splinterlands... the first chaper of the Waur Medge Academy was released. There are get 38 new cards in the freshly Splinterlands' Campaign Mode, and I was buzzing to check them out!

This will bring some new dynamics into the game, and help the newbies have a smoother start! It's a learning curve! Why? Because the cards are designed to replace the Rebellion starter set and are immediately usable in Ranked battles, providing a solid foundation for competitive play. Let's dive in!

This campaign mode serves as an engaging way to learn the game mechanics while building a competitive deck. It's an excellent opportunity for both new and returning players to enhance their card collection and prepare for Ranked battles.

I headed to the campaign and started my journey as a fledgling battle mage int the new interactive PvE game mode. The starting quests gave me one card and 100 Glint, so it's not a bad deal. As a player you will embark on a narrative-driven journey that intertwines lore with gameplay.

As you progress through this campaign, you'll encounter a series of challenges and battles that, upon completion, reward you with unique cards. While specific details about each card's stats and abilities are unveiled as you advance, they are integral to the evolving storyline and offer fresh tactical options for battles.

To acquire these cards, players must complete the designated missions within the Waur Mege Academy campaign. Each successful mission not only progresses the story but also grants you these special cards, enriching your collection and providing new avenues for strategic play.

Engaging with this campaign is an excellent way to delve deeper into the Splinterlands universe, uncover hidden lore, and strengthen your deck with exclusive cards that reflect your journey through the Waur Mege Academy.

But if you ask me what was the most remarkable thing I've done lately, I will say without hesitation that winning two packs at the Splinterlands X Challenge beat the rest! The battle Mages were asked which card is their favorite Conclave Arcana card and I joined with haste!

My tweet was about Kalya Silverleaf and her army of lethal elves, and I got the most likes! My reward was 2 Alchemy Packs, which were received with a big thank you! Each pack is valued at $12 and a guaranteed gold foil, so this gift brings a considerable boost to my deck.

The battle was remarkable, and more memorable battles are coming! The new bloodline boosts are creating new strategies, and Kaylia Silverleaf can create an army of lethal elves! Why? Because she gives Execute to the elven-kin!

You may think 26 mana cap is low and the team selection should be done with cheap units and basic archons... but I will disagree! Went for Kaylia and elven spellcasters for maximal damage!

Kaylia Silverleaf: -1 Spell Damage to enemies & Execute to Elves

Failled Summoner: Support Unit with Magic Reflect

Moxian Rebel: Caster with Weapons Training

Lurking Puffer: Support with Corrosive Ward

Thanalorian Scion: Elf Caster with Void Armor

Elven Mystic: Caster

Thanalorian Archer: Elf Caster With Lookout

The strategy was simple... cast spells and win the game! The Moxian Rebel gave spell power to the support units without attack, and the archon gave Execute to the two Thanalorioan elves. Wait... why is the Elven Mystic not classed as an elf? It's an elf and got the boost but still!

Each team lost one unit before the end of the first round, then was Execute time! Taylia Silverleaf's bloodline dominion gives all elves killer instinct. If a target has 2 or less healt after a succesfull attack... the attacker performs another attack to settle the score!

This happened as the Thanalorian Scion hit the Explosive Rat, and then casted another spell to deliver the deadly blow! The strategy I created was succesfull!

The Drybone Megalodon giving Reach to the Explosive Rats was a good idea, as the blast hit hard into my units. However... it wasn't sustainable and a long term solution! Magic always beats raw strenght!

The Elven Mystic had one swing at the Chaos Evoker, then a second one due to Execute! This battle was turning into a bloodbath! The Mystic done the same thing to the Drybone Megalodon! Sharks in the water? Nope! All clear!

What can do a lonely monkey against an army of immortal elves? Absolutely nothing! It looked easy... but was the bloodline dominion that made the difference! See the full battle here!

Now... are you curious about the packs? I couldn't resist the temptation and tore into the first one with haste. And guess what? The Bristleborn Brigand emerged... a golden rodent shimmering with flair came straight from the box!

While it may not be the most jaw-dropping pull, a gold foil is always a welcome surprise. After all, the fray I dive into during brawls is led by none other than a golden hero! We fight for merits and honor!

But that’s not all. The Auroral Element made an appearance too—an epic card of the highest order! Truly a top-tier addition to the collection. And tucked alongside it was the Boring Hobgoblin… though let me tell you, there was nothing boring about that pack!

image.png

Every card had a story, and this unwrapping adventure was just the beginning. The second pack was definitely an upgrade, and now we’re talking! It came packed with goodies: one shiny gold foil, a powerful epic, two solid rares, and yes... our old friend!

The Boring Hobgoblin was making yet another surprise cameo. Front and center was the Portly Cannoneer... the dwarf with serious firepower and an attitude to match. This is not the kind of character you want to mess with, especially when he's gleaming in gold foil. Trust me, this version of him looks like he's ready to blast his way to victory in style.

Then there’s Hodlor. True to his name, he's that steadfast human who literally holds the door! Most unwavering and reliable, the kind of frontline unit you can count on when things get chaotic. You’ve got to appreciate a card that brings both utility and a bit of lore-inspired humor.

And let's not forget Razi Clanktrap, the gnome archon who’s always tinkering with something brilliant. This little genius boosts ranged units like no other, making her an absolute game-changer on the battlefield. Her presence alone can shift the tide of a match if used right.

All in all, this pack felt like it had purpose, as each card contributing something unique to the collection and the strategy. The excitement’s building... can’t wait to crack open the next one!
