Hello Feathered Friends Lovers. In this Show Me A Photo Contest Round 208, with pictures of birds feeding.
I frequently pass by this plaza on my route to work. And the pigeons are there fluttering and eating the food that people give them.
And in this group of pigeons I was especially struck by one pigeon because she was not eating unlike the others, but was courting a female, making the characteristic sound and dance. And the female was trying to eat while he was following her.
I think the male pigeon did not allow the female to eat.
Pigeons are birds that walk in groups and eat together. They generally feed on chopped corn kernels and rice. Some people feed them bread or birdseed.
At my house a lot of pigeons came to eat and I liked to watch them. And the sounds they make each one of course has a meaning.
The male is always behind his mate, they are monogamous and maybe he also makes those movements as a gesture of dominance. But they are generally faithful. Although I have witnessed the abandonment of a pigeon. She left her two eggs and the pigeon, who finished hatching them. They lived in my house until they decided to fly to other places.
This week I also observed a black heron looking for food in a water hole in the street. It looked to me like it had an injured leg because it was not supporting it. Possibly it was looking for insect or amphibian larvae, which is part of their diet when they live in urban areas.
And this picture of a hummingbird feeding on the nectar of the flowers of a plant that in my country we call Sangria.
These are the pictures I have to show you. I hope you like them.
All photographs are my own taken with a Samsung S15 phone.
