What changed her? Or has she been pretending all thede while? I thought she was neat from the inside because of her profession. Ah! a nurse for that matter.
My aunt was someone I usually look up to in every aspect not until when I went to spend my mid-term break with her. She works as a nurse and I admired her efforts in taking care of people.
I decided to vist my aunt since it had been quiet long i went there and her children has always been coming to spend time with my family especially during the festive seasons .
So on getting there, they were all happy to see me. They welcomed me and during dinner it was fun because the food was delicious. We watched moives after dinner and later one after the other we all went to bed.
Waking up the next morning, I joined my cousins to carry out their daily house chores , before they left for school.
My aunt prepared herself to go out to work , I noticed she was wearing the same clothes she wore back from work the previous day. I began to have a rethink. Did she air the clothes over night, then I i remembered that it rained last night. I thought again "How on earth will a woman be comfortable wearing the same clothes she wore the previous day?"
Four hours later she came back , I had already filled the house with water , so she packed the dirty clothes in the laundry basket and began to wash them. I was outside with her helping her to rinse and dry the clothes and immediately we finished washing the clothes, I i noticed that my aunt went inside gathered all the dirty dishes, brought them out and began to wash the dishes inside the dirty sospy water we had just used to wash dirty clothes. I was shocked because deep down inside of me I did not expect that from her.
I asked aunty Hajara why she used dirty clothes water to wash the dishes but she pretend as not to have heard my question. At this point I began to tell her that it was not healthy and coming from someone like her with her field of study, this was not right . She still did not make any comment.
Because of what I witnessed , I shortened my days of staying in my aunt place. The following day, I packed my bags to leave as my aunt prepared for work, still wearing the same clothes she wore the previous day making it one cloth for three days.
I became speechless and this was what changed my perspective towards her.
