Hello, Hivians!
It's a privilege and honor to be a member of this community. For the longest time, I have always thought of ways I could express myself. I'm not an artist or artiste. I don't know how to write incredible articles or stories or draw but I have surely thought of how I could talk about things I liked with people who would engage and understand me. And that's where Hive comes in. I would like to introduce myself first.
My name is Omobolanle Awosusi. I was born and brought up in the Western part of Nigeria, Ondo state precisely. Nigeria is a beautiful country with lots of tourist attractions and lovely people. But most times, beauty is only a basic value. It's a sad truth and I hate to admit it, but there's a rot that has been slowly eating into this country. And sometimes, I fear that this country might crumble into bits and pieces just like wood bitten through by termites.
Anyway, I am the third child of my parents, out of 5. I have a twin sister, though we are not exactly identical. Though, we've got the same crinkly eyes. In the Yoruba language, we are called Taiye and Kehinde. I am Kehinde, the twin who came out last. However, there's a myth that says I sent my twin out of the womb first to check if the world was safe for me to be born into. I have two other sisters and a brother.
MY HOBBIES
Well, I don't have a lot of hobbies, to be honest. I like listening to music. I can't be specific about the genres of music I listen to because I vibe with any music that has a good rhythm and lovely lyrics. Sometimes, I tend to lean more on music whose themes are based on love and romance. I also love singing and learning new songs. That's why I joined the choir in my church. I sing in the alto part. I love belting out choruses and just singing songs that glorify God. And I love the sense of community and peace I feel whenever I sing with my fellow choristers.
My list of hobbies wouldn't be complete if I didn't mention that I love watching movies, especially K-Drama. I love the Korean series because they help me forget my worries and let go of reality for a while. I love discussing these movies with anyone who would want to listen. Their acting seems so real, like they really get into it. The portrayal of their country is so beautiful and it's on my wishlist to go visit their country and meet some of my favorite actors. My favorite movie genres are horror, thriller, fantasy, and a little bit of romance.
I like dancing but I am not good at it. I envy those who know how to dance, because how does it come so easy to them?
MY LIFE
I am a university student, currently in my third year. I am studying Environmental Management and Toxicology and I hope that someday, I end up being a global climate protector. I'm more of a listener and willing to learn new things. I tend to make mistakes but it's easy for me to listen to corrections. I do not like arguing or fighting with people who mean a lot to me. I love a peaceful life and would avoid conflict most times unless it's necessary to be able to come to a resolution. I would be lying if I say I'm slow to anger but my anger is most times fleeting. To be honest, I haven't given much thought to the exact career path I would be going into. I'm not someone who exactly likes to plan for the future because life's quite uncertain and could topple your plans like a house of cards. I prefer to take life spontaneously and then mold life events to fit my needs and wants. What I do know though is that I have always wanted to be in a position to be of good help to people in any capacity. Maybe, I might end up being a philanthropist, if God wills it.
I am very grateful to be part of this wonderful community because now I know I have a place to share my ideas, read, and learn about different people, their countries, their values, and cultures. I am happy because now I get to rant about movies I have watched, songs I have listened to, or even my life experiences to people all over the world. It will be a small comfort to see people engage and relate to my content. My introductory post will not be complete without appreciating my friends @justfavour and @terjix. I want to thank Justfavour for onboarding me to this platform and for guiding me gently. I know I have a lot to learn and it might not be easy for me, but I'm down for whatever comes. I also want to thank my partner in crime, @terjix for ranting about Hive to me. Safe to say she inspired and motivated me to take the bull by the horns and join Hive. Without these two figures, I wouldn't be here writing this introductory post.
I hope that I will be able to make new friends, impact people positively and bring good vibes and energy to Hive. I also hope I have the grace, will, and strength to stay on Hive for how long it takes. Thanks for having me here.
