The Delicate concept of Morals and Ethics in shaping Laws

Hello Everyone,
I had a great time reading a lot of entry for this week Prompts, honestly this one is a mind boggling one.
Before I can proceed, there is a
big need for Understanding Morals and Ethics.

In the simplest of explanations, Morals and ethics are principles that guide our behaviours as human being and these principles shapes and affects our decision-making. Many a time we often use these two distinct terms interchangeably.

Here is the difference between them:
Morals: can be defined as Personal beliefs about what is right and wrong, often influenced by cultural, religious, or family values.
For examples, dressing properly, showing respect, living responsibly, portraying good behaviours like honesty, Helping people, giving help to people, showing kindness and love to people around you.

Ethics: can be defined as a set of principles that govern behavior, often based on moral values. Ethics are Rules of conduct in a particular culture or group recognised by an external source or social system.
For examples in Business there are ethics such as Honesty and Fairness in trading, mode of dressing, integrity at work place, responsibility and accountability. These sets or standards are mostly acceptable in all social systems.

Now back to our prompt of the day,
The question of whether laws should be based on ethics and morals.
First of all we all need to know that laws are rooted in ethics and morals can foster a sense of community and shared values, promoting social cohesion and protecting vulnerable groups.
But On the other hand, such laws can also infringe upon individual freedoms and autonomy, which limits people's ability to make their own choices and decisions.
Laws based on ethics and morals can help promote social cohesion by establishing a shared sense of right and wrong. For instance, laws against hate speech and discrimination can help create a more inclusive and respectful society. But on the other hand the some people can feel offended because it might also be an infringement of freedom of Speech and expression right.
In Nigeria Here you have the right of speech but the rights after making that speech is solely your problem. You can be arrested or killed after making some statements about some people in authority.
Now let's look at some other laws,
Laws based on ethics and morals can also help protect vulnerable groups, such as children, women, and minorities, from exploitation and harm. For example, laws against child labor and human trafficking can help prevent the exploitation of vulnerable individuals.
But to some parents if their children didn't go out to hawk or work, the family can starve due to the economic crisis.

Some laws promote a sense of personal responsibility. For instance, laws that require individuals to wear seatbelts or helmets while driving or riding motorcycles can help reduce the risk of injury or death.
Some other laws promotes environmental responsibility, such as laws that prohibit littering or require recycling.

Arguments Against Laws Based on Ethics and Morals
Infringing on Individual Freedoms
Laws based on ethics and morals can infringe upon individual freedoms and autonomy, limiting people's ability to make their own choices and decisions. For example, laws that restrict freedom of speech or assembly can be seen as infringing upon individual rights. In the United States, the debate over gun control laws is a prime example of the tension between individual freedoms and public safety.

The Bitter Truth is that some laws cannot be fully be fully be in support of Social Cohesion.
Take for example, laws that restrict abortion or same-sex marriage can be seen as imposing one moral perspective on others. In many countries, the debate over LGBTQ+ rights is a prime example of the challenges of creating laws that balance individual freedoms with social cohesion.

All these woke people theory of letting people do whatever they want can destroy the society's uprightness, creating delusional generations.
Why will you choose to have a baby aborted, you had the choice of using protection from the beginning.
Why will you decide to marry someone of the same sex, when you know that that kind of union will never bring any fruit or offspring, you will just end up adopting innocent children and grooming them in a pervert environment, bringing them to your craze.
Laws based on ethics and morals can be difficult to enforce, particularly if they are not widely accepted or understood by the public.

In Conclusion
For me I strongly agree that The laws should be made on ethics and morals, even though it is complex and sometimes unsettling to some groups of people. A balanced approach that respects individual rights and promotes social cohesion is essential for creating a harmonious and respectful society.
