Porn, gore, death threats, scams, and all the other evils of the world existed long before cell phones.
Yes, cell phones make more of us susceptible to these things, but they also inform us about those things, so we can avoid them.
Technology is not evil, we are.
Of course, a cell phone is a tool, and like any tool, it all depends on how it is used...
I responded to another comment, that obviously I wouldn't go out WITHOUT my phone, on the off chance anything happens. I don't bring my phone to constantly take pictures, or scroll while on the bus, etc. It is taking us away from the present. And, despite how informed people can be, they still choose to self-indulge on (mostly) terrible things.
I will argue about technology being good though! AI robots will be great for home care, completing tasks, caring for a family member, etc. On the other hand, how much of our freewill are we willing to omit for the sake of "laziness"?...
