The world has changed a lot looking at how we transition from herbal drugs to synthetic drugs and so on. However, not every situation or condition demands that we take medication. If you ask me, I would say health is holistic and not wouldn’t related to preventing disease. Being healthy goes beyond physical well, it completely emotional , social and mental well being also. And even if we should relate health to just physical health like most of us do today, there are various levels to preventing diseases which could affect our health. But, how many of us even take a minute out of our busy schedules each day to analyse if we are really taking care of our health? Life has gotten so busy for most of us to the extent that we only bother about our health when we are sick and I bed. But that’s not how it should be, our health should be our priority.
As long as I’ve known myself, I’m not one to take drugs even if I’m ill. I would only take drugs when I know the situation is serious and after a few days, I just give up on them. This may also be due to the fact that I barely fall sick. I would literally do anything to not take drugs. But truth is, you don’t always need drugs to get better. Sometimes a tweak in your lifestyle and habits could do a lot for you than you can imagine and I’m actually a victim to this.
I’m a very picky eater and coupled with that, I mostly get so caught up with work and forget to eat. This habit of mine landed me with gastric ulcer. It all started years ago and I didn’t really take it serious. I thought it was probably just a reaction to something I ate but I kept on getting severe until one day I had to go to ten hospital to get it checked. And even after my diagnosis, I still wasn’t wasn’t eating as much I should because that was just me. I had to resort to taking drugs everyday and all of that. At some point it all got exhausting so I decided to make a change in my lifestyle which was to eat well and eat on time .
I wasn’t easy for a start. I would forget to eat lunch on some days and on other days I would only take supper. But soon enough, I started to be more dedicated to my meals. That was literally all that I needed to get off the meds like I used to. Today, I’m doing much better, I don’t need meds that much expect in some specific situations and I must say, it’s been great so far. And I’m really glad I decided to make this change in my life, for my own good.
