Greetings!
Hello everyone!. It's a pleasure to welcome you back to the nature watchers community. I just published an interesting finding that I managed to observe today, May 15, 2025, and I have added it to my observations in the iNaturalist community
Rambusa or with the Latin name Passiflora foetida is the name of a type of small fruit, which when ripe is covered by the enlargement of the flower petals. This fruit is also known by various regional names such as ceplukan blungsun.kalengkemut, permot, cermot, knit, kaceprek or other terms that are also used, namely mini passion fruit or forest passion fruit.
This forest passion fruit plant is a climbing plant like other members of the genus, and produces edible fruit. The specific epithet, foetida, means "smell" in Latin and refers to the strong aroma emitted by damaged leaves.
The stems are thin and stiff, and covered with very small sticky yellow hairs. Older stems become woody.
The leaves are three to five-lobed and thickly hairy. When crushed, these leaves emit a pungent odor that is considered unpleasant. The flowers are white to pale cream, or pink to pale purple, with a diameter of about 5–6 cm. The ripe fruit is round, 2–3 cm in diameter, remains green when ripe and has many black seeds embedded in the flesh.
