You gotta keep it moving lest you wind up being frozen in place. Today was a bit of a setback. I lost my focus and shot past my calorie limit. My only saving grace is my high BMR. If not for that, today would have been a day that I gained weight.
I finished the day with my 10000 steps. I pushed myself to do this to make up for my calorie failure. While I did manage to get 11 flights of stairs in, the 0 active minutes isn't really acceptable. If I don't keep it moving I'm likely to end up like the frozen water coming from the drain. Momentum and inertia are tremendous forces, and it's better to have them working with you than against you. Once I stop, it's hard to get started again.
Continuing with the theme: Each night I post the song that was playing as I ended the workout and use that as the title for the post for that day. Today's song was My Own Prison by Creed. To me, this song is about understanding and facing the consequences of our actions. It's a fitting title for today and it reminds me of a poem I wrote. It's a poem about my struggles with weight gain and food. In it, I liken the struggle and the temptation of overeating to my prison. With my recent momentum towards success, I feel like I was starting to break out of it. So I regard setbacks like today as disappointing and dangerous. Tomorrow, I'm going to put forth my best effort to gaining back that momentum.
My goals for tomorrow are 11k steps and 1700 calories. I those are really reasonable and achievable goals. Wish me luck.
