MOONKARTS | Initial Investing and Starting my Multiplayer Journey

Hello Readers,

If you are an active user on Hive, then by now you must have heard about the Moonkarts. Moonkarts is a classic arcade-style racing game that is recently getting hype among the Hive community and beyond. This play2earn game developed by the ArcadeColony company runs on the decentralized Hive blockchain and it features fully 3D gameplay with awesome graphics and a smooth enjoyable in-game experience. If you love to play games and want to feel the thrill of racing on asphalt tracks against other human players for crypto rewards, then you should try Moonkarts at least once.

In order to start playing Moonkarts, you will need at least a Kart card and a Driver Card, but there are other types of cards in the game as well like - Tech Cards, Accessories, Power-Up, etc which increase your performance in the game. All the cards in this game are NFT (non-fungible tokens) that you own and can be bought, sold, or traded on the market. You can either choose to buy and open packs or buy cards directly from the market and start your journey in Moonkarts.

I started playing Moonkarts last month and initially, I just invested 5 USD in buying some entry-level cards directly from the marketplace, just to test the game out. After the initial impression, I really liked the overall game mechanism and gameplay style and decided to grow my card collection, so that I can play this game competitively and earn rewards from the multiplayer mode. Thus, I decided to invest a decent amount to buy some packs, Colony and Script tokens and kickstart my journey in Moonkarts.

First of all, I bought 5 Alpha Centauri packs directly from the market and it cost me around 7 Hive to buy each pack, a total of 35 Hive. Now each pack has 5 Moonkarts NFT cards and I had to buy these packs from the Hive-Engine market because all the Centauri packs in the official sale were sold out already.

Apart from these 5 Alpha Centauri Packs, I also bought 14 Script tokens from Hive-Engine and I bought most of it for around 1.649 Hive per Script token and the remaining for 1.889 Hive. Now Script tokens are required to generate Fuel in the game, which is the ticket to play multiplayer matches. In order to produce fuel, you have to stake NFT cards coupled with Script tokens and for every NFT card, 2 Script tokens will be required to start generating Fuel. The Fuel generation rate depends on your card rarity and levels and the more rare and higher level cards you stake, the more fuel you generate per day.

Anyway, initially I spent 16.922 USD to buy these 5 Alpha Centauri Packs and 14 Script tokens and without wasting any more time, I immediately transferred them to my in-game account.

I couldn’t wait anymore and quickly went to the 'My Packs' tab and opened all 5 Alpha Centauri packs quickly, Now when opening packs, you get the option to use Gold Flux and Legendary Flux options, similar to Legendary and Alchemy potions in Splinterlands that increases your chance to pull legendary and gold foil cards. For each pack, 5 units of Gold Flux and Legendary Flux potions will be used. However, I decided not to purchase these fluxes and open those packs without them. Let me share the outcome below. \

Well, as you can see, I have only opened 5 packs but the outcome didn't disappoint me at all. First of all, by the time I opened the packs, there was some glitch going on and the cards shown in the picture above didn't exactly match with the result. You can see I got 3 orange looking power up cards and though they are all legendary, after talking with Khan at the Moonkarts discord server, I discovered that power-up cards were not actually legendary cards. However, I got one gold foil card, 2 epics and the rest all rare and common cards. Considering the fact that I have only opened 5 packs so far, the outcome was better than average and I also got what I wanted - 1 Epic Kart and 1 Epic Engine card, 1 gold foil common wheel Rim card, 4 power-up cards and the rest all rare and common cards. The cards that I got from the outcome were more than enough to build a decently strong setup and I was happy with my pull to be honest.

Now that I had got my cards, it was time to test my arsenal on the race track. Now after I opened the packs and collected my cards, it was time to generate the necessary fuel, which is needed to race in multiplayer. Now, the more cards you use in your setup to race, the more fuel it will require. So, I decided just to practice racing with my best Kart and driver card and use the best cards among the rest of my collection to generate fuel. Now while Experimenting with the Auto vault, I realized that power-up cards generate the most amount of fuel. So, I decided to stake all 4 power-up cards in Auto Vault to generate as much fuel as possible and only use the Driver and Kart cards in racing. As thought, I staked all my best cards including 4 power-up cards, the epic engine card and the gold foil rim card in Auto Vault as you can see from the screenshot above, I ended up earning 201.1 Fuel per day gladly.

Now, after I finished doing all the necessary work, it was time to actually partake in the multiplayer races and to be honest, I was scared to partake against other players at first. But after practicing for some time in the single-player mode with my owned cards, I gained some confidence and brought enough courage to finally race in multiplayer mode. Just today, after sending my fuel balance around 2500, I finally decided to participate in a multiplayer race and enjoyed playing a handful of races. I admit I performed miserably and ended up booking the last place every time while playing against 1 or 2 players against me. I was so devastated by the result at first but then I realized all the opponents had much stronger cars and other cards than me and not to mention, I still need to practice more as well to get familiar with the tracks. But no worries, it was only my first day at the multiplayer track and I have gladly taken myself close to the top 50 position. Hopefully, with more practice and getting my hand in some better cards, I think I can make it to the top 10. So, I will continue practicing on these competitive tracks until I become victorious, what about you?
