Hello! Happy Saturday. Hope you're having an awesome weekend? It's all good right here.
So today had me attending an event at Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic (formerly Abia State Polytechnic, Aba). As I walked outside the premises after the event, I took a moment to appreciate the beautiful art paintings and inscriptions on the school's wall.
The artwork depicted different vocational and academic programs within the school, while the inscriptions were advices on important life issues, such as avoiding drug abuse and the rest.
Amongst the paintings that stood out for me is this beautiful nature park scene featuring an elephant by a riverbank, with tree plants and flowers. The elephant can be seen having a leisurely walk around the nature park and I can imagine how he's enjoying every moment of it.
The elephant here depicts the name for which the town, Aba, is known for - Enyimba (Elephant) City. Story has it that an elephant escorted the city's early dwellers into the settlement.
I'd been wanting to capture these paintings for a long time now but the opportunity hasn't been forthcoming. Thankfully, the opportunity finally presented itself today, and the simple yet powerful phrase: "Just Do It" on one of the paintings was the push I needed to put my camera into motion, clicking away and capturing snapshots of the different paintings.
As I snapped one photo after another, I noticed curious glances from passersby. I could imagine what was going on in their minds. Lol. One man even stopped to ask, "Do you like them?" I responded with a warm smile, "Of course I do, that's why I'm taking them." He gave a slight nod of the head and continued on his way. 😂

Powerful messages on paint
These artworks really added a touch of creativity and color to the school's outside environment and I must commend the artist behind these.
I hope you liked the photos as much as I enjoyed snapping them. Pray tell, which of the painting and inscription stood out for you? I'd love to read your thoughts. Thank you.
