This week has been particularly busy. With Mother's Day just around the corner, Chocolates Alile is in full swing, with days packed with activities. To make things even more complicated, my nephew took a well-deserved vacation, which increased my workload. In addition to being practically alone in the process, I also had to handle the deliveries.
Luckily, my husband supported me with several of them, giving me the opportunity to admire the surroundings and capture some moments in photos. So I took the opportunity to join the weekly #wednesdaywalk challenge, created by our friend @tattoodjay, a space to discover fascinating corners of the world. This time, I want to share with you what I saw during a delivery on Empedrado Street, between Havana and Compostela.
Esta semana ha sido particularmente ajetreada. Con el Día de las Madres a la vuelta de la esquina, Chocolates Alile está en plena actividad, con días repletos de actividades. Para complicar aún más las cosas, mi sobrino se tomó unas merecidas vacaciones, lo que aumentó mi carga de trabajo. Además de estar prácticamente sola en el proceso, también me encargué de las entregas.
Por suerte, mi esposo me apoyó con varias de ellas, dándome la oportunidad de admirar el entorno y capturar algunos momentos en fotos. Así que aproveché para unirme al reto semanal #wednesdaywalk, creado por nuestro amigo @tattoodjay, un espacio para descubrir rincones fascinantes del mundo. En esta ocasión, quiero compartir con ustedes lo que vi durante una entrega en la calle Empedrado, entre La Habana y Compostela.
To reach our destination, my husband took the Prado de La Habana route, an avenue I've always loved. Although what I enjoy most is walking along the central promenade, on this occasion I had to settle for admiring it from afar, as we were in a hurry. Upon reaching Neptuno Street, we came across the imposing Hotel Telégrafo, with its striking blue and white colors, complemented by the flags fluttering from its summit. This hotel, built in 1860 on Amistad Street, is one of the oldest in the country and has a fascinating past as the headquarters of the world's first telegraph line. It moved to its current location 28 years later. Today, this emblematic place welcomes those who celebrate diversity as a way of life.
Para llegar a nuestro destino, mi esposo tomó la ruta del Prado de La Habana, una avenida que siempre me ha encantado. Aunque lo que más disfruto es caminar por el paseo central, en esta ocasión tuve que conformarme con admirarlo desde lejos, ya que teníamos prisa. Al llegar a la calle Neptuno, dimos con el imponete Hotel Telégrafo con sus llamativos colores azul y blanco, complementados con las banderas que ondeaban en su cima. Facing the Telégrafo is the emblematic Parque Central, a green lung in the heart of the city. With its tall palm trees and varied vegetation, this park is an iconic spot that all Havana residents know and a must-see on any tour of Havana.

We continued our walk towards Empedrado Street, passing by the Farnes Castle. This restaurant, with its figurehead adorned with the horn of plenty, owes its name to Francisco Puig, who converted it into a restaurant and named it after a fortress in his native Catalonia. Its richly detailed facade always catches the attention of passersby.
Continuamos nuestro paseo hacia la calle Empedrado, pasando por el Castillo Farnes. Este restaurante, con su mascarón adornado con el cuerno de la abundancia, debe su nombre a Francisco Puig, quien lo convirtió en restaurante y puso ese nombre en honor a una fortaleza de su Cataluña natal. Su fachada, rica en detalles, siempre llama la atención de los transeúntes.
Finally, we arrived at our destination, where I handed out my delicious chocolates, although I didn't have many opportunities to take photos due to my commitment to the customer. However, before returning to the city center and heading home, I noticed the typical shops selling various handcrafted items and tourist souvenirs.
Finalmente, llegamos al lugar de destino, donde realicé la etrega de mis deliciosos chocolates, aunque no tuve muchas oportunidades de tomar fotos debido a mi compromiso con el cliente. The return trip was equally memorable, passing by the majestic Capitol of Havana. This symbol of the city, with its architectural richness and sumptuous ornamentation, never fails to impress me. Surrounded by elegant palm trees, the Capitol creates a wonderful contrast with its surroundings, making it worthy of admiration and photography.

Este símbolo de la ciudad, con su riqueza arquitectónica y suntuosa ornamentación, nunca deja de impresionarme. This tour, through one of the most central areas of the city, turned a workday into a pleasant excursion that connected me with the history and beauty of my beloved Havana.
