A 15 Hour Travel Back To My Husband's Workplace: Camiguin Island

Hello everyone! It's a mix of emotions departing my hometown to live in an island where my husband works. As of this moment I have to accompany him renting a house to live because we don't have our own house yet. In my parent's side they always welcome me anytime but I don't see myself living with them. Not a negative reason but because they are nine in the house, my uncle is 10th and the workers they had two living with them so I feel like I have to add more burden to my father but they never said it to me. I just don't like to add up since I have two brothers who are now in college. On my husband's house, it is way more comfortable but I don't have anyone to ask for a help like I have to go to the grocery and I have to carry this two kids. If I do the laundry I have to bring the two kids because I'm the only one there. So my husband decided to rent a house near at his workplace so I can work at home in the evening after his duty hours and also he can help me with the chores on Sundays, the only day he is off from work. Not actually off because if there's emergencies he has to go to the office like for example if there's a typhoon. Well anyway next year we are planning to build our own house so we won't rent forever. We are just waiting for his break like newy years break, mid year break so he can help me with it because I don't know about construction.

This is actually our first stop. This is the terminal at Tangub city, an hour away from my husband's hometown. Then the next trip will be an 8 hours straight bus trip to Cagayan de Oro city. It almost ended like 10 hours because there's so many stops at terminals. But we have the air conditioned bus so it's comfortable to sleep anytime. We also do layovers for 30 minutes for meals, comfort rooms and passengers passing and stopping by. Then we reached to the city and had a another bus going to the port for 3 hours trip.

After 13 hours we reached to the Balingoan port the gateway to Camiguin island. From here you can see the Camiguin island, the long standing volcanoes of Mt. Hibok-hibok. My kids are very excited to be in the ferry. This time I was very tired, my feet numb so much but I have to carry the very heavy bags. I know my husband is tired too. Actually tickets are free because my husband is a coastguard also there's a vehicle for us not to walk through the very hot sun towards the ferry.
The port here is newly renovated about four months ago.

My kids enjoyed pointing the little islands around the ferry. It's very beautiful. I wanted to sleep but I can't I'm afraid my kids loiter around without my supervision. So I forced myself to be awake and I just said to myself it's two hours more! From the port here going to Camiguin port is also one hour. Then from the port to our house is also almost one hour.

And we arrived home at 5 pm. It's almost 6 and we are very surprise to see the inside of the house is very dirty because of the flood. When rain is very heavy the drainage would overflow and water will enter the houses so instead of resting, we spent almost an hour to clean everything.

Thanks to my husband, he is very mindful he let me slept first because he saw how exhausted I am. We slept with the kids and we woke up in the morning. It was a very long day.

That was such a long and tiring trip, but it’s nice you finally made it safely with your family.

Yes it's a very long and tiring one. And I'm thankful we arrived safely.

That kind of travel was quite an exhausted one! Thanks God you've reached home.

Very exhausting 😫 but nothing to do with it because this is where my husband works

I can feel how challenging it especially with the kids and all the heavy bags but yiu handled it so well. Your plan to build your own house sounds exciting, it will be so rewarding once it's done.

I hope I could start it this year so we won't travel long hours anymore.

Thanks for posting in the ASEAN Hive Community.
