Happy Thursday Hivers!
I'm actually afraid of dogs because I was bitten by one once. But when Brownie came to my older brother's house, he became the only dog I was ever comfortable holding in my arms.
Originally, Brownie belonged to a monastery. My sister-in-law's sibling and their family used to attend church there, and they became close friends with one of the nuns. During the pandemic, the monastery struggled to feed the many dogs they were caring for, so the nuns decided to put them up for adoption.
My sister-in-law's niece, who absolutely loves dogs, adopted Brownie. However, when he moved abroad, his father didn't want to keep a dog, so Brownie was given to my sister-in-law. That's how he eventually ended up at my older brother's house.
I really grew fond of Brownie because he was such a calm and gentle dog. He wasn't hyper or destructive at all. Most of the time, he would just lie quietly in a corner. Out of all the dogs I've ever met, Brownie is the only one I've ever felt comfortable hugging or letting rest on my lap. I'm actually afraid of dogs because I was bitten once, but Brownie completely changed how I felt around him.
We had so much fun with him. Whenever he saw his favorite snack, all you had to do was say, "Stand," "Sit," or "Jump," and he would follow every command. In fact, the moment he spotted his favorite treat, he would immediately stand up, hoping to get one.
Brownie brought so much joy to our family. Since he was the only dog at our house in Cebu, he always got everyone's attention whenever we had family gatherings. Sometimes he was playful and energetic, while other times he would quietly sit in a corner, just watching everyone.
I really miss him because it's been a long time since I last went back to Cebu, which also means it's been a long time since we last saw each other. Thankfully, I still have lots of photos and videos of him, so whenever I miss him, I just look through them and remember all the happy moments we shared.
