Pick Your Poison: Bookish Edition

in Hive Book Club16 days ago

While scrolling through my gallery, I came across a screenshot I've had for more than 2 years now. Interestingly, I don’t know how or where I got it, but what is more interesting is that it is about books. You know that thing you do when you don’t have access to the internet or you want to stay off the internet for a specific period due to some reasons, and then you start scrolling through your gallery. That was exactly what I did earlier today when I came across the screenshot. I was surprised when I checked the info and saw that I've had it since 2023. Of course, the content caught my attention and I decided to share it with my fellow book lovers in the Hive Book Club Community. This is the screenshot below:

PICK YOUR POISON: BOOKISH EDITION

Have you ever come across a dilemma where you are asked to pick between a red pill and a blue pill? The red pill might mean you can bring anyone who is dead back to life (something I would never do), and the blue pill represents an option of similar significance. Well, this one is just like that, just a little bit different because it is the bookish edition. Imagine walking through a forest and you come across a genie who presents you six potions, but you can only pick one. The blue potion gives you the power to read your favorite books for the first time again. The red potion gives you access to free books for life. The green potion makes a fictional character fall in love with you. Any fictional character of your choice. Purple potion gets you the most anticipated release. Orange potion gives you the power to live in your favorite world and finally, yellow gives you the power to revive any dead fictional character.

Every book lover would find it difficult to choose just one out of the six potions. I managed to eliminate 4 potions and settled on two. However, it is almost impossible to choose between these two. Let’s go ahead to review these potions; why I would choose them or why I choose to eliminate them.

THE BLUE POTION gives you the power to read your favorite book for the first time again. I mentioned earlier that I managed to settle on two potions. Well, the blue potion is one of them. My favorite book is Night Train by Judith Clarke. My close friends know this because I just won’t stop talking about it whenever the opportunity presents itself. It would be heavenly to read Night Train for the first time again, as if it hadn't been read before. I would love to experience the way my heart skipped, beat and throbbed. The excitement and anticipation that came with flipping through the pages. The whirlpool of emotions that danced inside me. It would be nice to experience all this all over again.

THE RED POTION gives you access to free books for life. I don’t know if this is weird, but I enjoy buying books. I enjoy saving up to buy loads of expensive books. I don’t know if it is the same way for other book lovers, but for me, buying books excites me. So, the red potion is out of the box. THE GREEN POTION to make a fictional character fall in love with me is also out of the box. I don’t think I have ever fallen in love with a fictional character. I adore their abilities and characterization, but fallling in love? That's too extreme. The same goes for THE PURPLE POTION. Currently, I don’t have any anticipated release. However, if I could tweak the potion a bit to to get a release from an author from the past (someone who has died), then I would jump on it. It would be great to read more books from Judith Clarke.

THE ORANGE POTION is out of the box, well just because. I have envisioned myself in fictional worlds, but I don’t think I want to live there permanently. Finally, THE YELLOW POTION. If I had the power to revive any fictional character (change the narrative of the book), I would grab this chance and revive my favorite character from my favorite book. The death of this character made me so emotional that I almost cried and trust me when I saw this is something that rarely happens. So, it seems my last two potions; THE BLUE POTION and the YELLOW POTION are tied to my favorite book. Even till now, I still find it difficult to choose one.

How about you? Which of these potions would you pick?

Thumbnail is mine. I took a screenshot of the second image online (bookish_gab). The last image is mine.

Thanks for reading.

Well uhm I have two questions. Why won’t u bring anyone back to life? Not a single person?

Secondly it’s quite interesting you would revive a frictional character whyyy?

Anyways for me I think I’d like to read my favorite books again for the first time. I want that for movies too!

Hehe. I've lost so many good people to the cruel hands of death, Sam. But I like to believe that they are in a better place. Bringing them back to life wouldn't do any good.

As for the fictional character, they are just fictional characters.😂 So bringing them back to life would mean they wouldn't die in the book.

Thank you for stopping by.

Ps: How did yesterday’s tournament go?

I understand that now! I have lost people too and now I understand your view.

We managed to stay in Liga 4, it was close but it's better than relegation!
