In the event of starting a business, I would like to establish a food business. The rationale is not hard to comprehend since everyone feeds, food is considered as one of the most essential needs of life. I have witnessed how people struggle every day in finding cheaper and healthier meals.
Most young people, workers and even students are known to miss meals due to a lack of accessibility to good food at the right time. In my opinion, a healthy, affordable and well-prepared foods business would not only bring me a profit but help my community.
Another among the things that I enjoy about the food business is that it has a ready market. Food is a necessity in the lives of people compared to some of the products or services that people may not find in their daily life. No matter how wealthier you are or how poor you are, no matter how aged you are or how small you are, you have to eat to survive.
It implies that a food business can never take a break since it will always have customers irrespective of the economic situation. Today In Nigeria, the living standard is expensive and most of the people are reducing their expenses. Nevertheless, food is one of the priorities of each house. This renders it among the most dependable companies to bet on.The second reason why I would like to start a food business is because I love to cook.
Growing up, I used to see my mother making various dishes of traditional dishes, and I loved how happy people used to be when sharing food. Cooking is not just an activity as before because it is an activity which I enjoy. I feel that passion and business are a good mix and the goal is more achievable. By turning my passion into cooking into a business, I will be in a position of serving people not only for tasty meals but also prepared creatively and with care.
There are also issues that I must consider to be solved in the food business. Nowadays, most individuals are unable to cook because of tight schedules at the workplace. Others consume unhealthy fast food which in the future becomes the cause of their health. My enterprise would be that of offering nutritious meals at a relatively low cost. I would do everything possible to include both traditional Nigerian dishes and latest recipes in order to satisfy different customers.
As an example, I might offer jollof rice, egusi soup, amala, healthy snacks such as salads and smoothies. In so doing I shall be advocating healthy living whilst not depriving people of yummy meals.
Apart from ending the hunger issue, a food enterprise will also provide employment. The level of unemployment particularly among the youth is also high in Nigeria. In a food enterprise, I could hire cooks, waiters, delivery riders and even some vendors of raw foodstuff such as vegetables, rice and meat suppliers.
This implies that my business would not only be helpful to me, but also to other people since it would generate a source of income. I also feel that when women engage in business, they uplift their society since they liberate others.
The next reason I would opt to choose a food business is because of its flexibility. It need not be undertaken on a very big scale. I can start humbly perhaps with a home-based food delivery service and move on to owning a restaurant. Today, it is easy to promote food using social media and reach a big number of customers without necessarily making huge expenses on advertisements. This makes me believe that despite the little capital, I will be able to start small and grow slowly.
Lastly, I am considering the food business as one that is unifying. The Nigerian culture prescribes food to be served in all ceremonies, gatherings, and family gatherings. Operating a food venture, I would not only distribute meals, but also give people an opportunity to share joy, connect with each other and create memories. It is a value that cannot be acquired with the help of money only
To sum up, when the desire to start a business appears, I would select the food business. Reasons are easy to see, food is a necessity every day, it has a market, it is a passion of mine, it addresses existing problems, it creates workplaces, and it unites people. I think that this kind of business would not only reward me but also to society. Having spent my life aspiring to make a contribution to the development of my country, I perceives food business as one of the most promising opportunities to unite the purpose with the success.
