Shadows on the Balcony
In recent days, we’ve once again been able to appreciate the incredible sunsets that the city of Caracas treats us to. Fortunately, the balcony of my home offers an extraordinary view to the northwest of the city, where the rays of the setting sun bathe everything in their path with their strength and energy. When I open the windows, the sun streams in, illuminating the entire room, but when I close the glass doors, that same light becomes the ideal source for casting shadows.

Sombras en el Balcón
En los últimos días hemos apreciado de nuevo los increíbles atardeceres que nos regala la ciudad de Caracas. Afortunadamente, el balcón de mi casa se encuentra ubicado con una mirada extraordinaria al noroeste de la ciudad, desde donde los rayos del ocaso bañan con su fuerza y energía todo su paso. Al abrir las ventanas, el sol entra con fuerza, iluminando toda la estancia, pero al trancar las puertas de vidrio, esa misma luz se convierte en la fuerza de proyección ideal para la generación de sombras.
The shadows we can see come from the window grille, the laundry hanging from above, and the plants next to their pots; we can also observe structural elements and many other details in that area of the house that make this space truly incredible. This is how it becomes a very interesting part of the home décor, which has a distinctive yet very natural touch, just waiting to be captured by the magic of digital photography.
Las sombras que podemos apreciar provienen de la reja de la ventana, la ropa que se encuentra colgada desde lo alto y las plantas junto a sus porrones; también podremos observar elemento estructural y muchos otros detalles que se encuentran en esa área de la casa y que convierten a este espacio en un lugar increíble. Es así como esto se convierte en parte muy interesante de la decoración hogareña, la cual tiene un toque distinto y al mismo tiempo muy natural, el cual espera para ser capturado por la magia de la fotografía digital.
These shadows are subtle yet somewhat blurred—not because of a lack of light, but because of the unique porous surface of the glass strands covering the window. This makes the scene much more appealing, profound, and striking, resulting in brilliant photographs that are full of life and bursting with color.
Estas sombras son sutiles y al mismo tiempo un tanto borrosas, situación que se da no por la falta de luz, sino por la peculiar superficie porosa de las cuerdas de vidrio que cubren la ventana, lo cual hace que la escena se vuelva mucho más atractiva, profunda y llamativa, dando como resultado fotografías brillantes, llenas de vida y rebosantes de color.
