Appreciations on the architectural design of buildings in Old Havana [eng/spa]

It is known by all of us who are part of this great platform that is Hive, that after becoming a member of this huge family, the perception we have about our environment begins to have remarkable changes. We stop seeing our reality in a simple way, and we start to be more aware of everything around us. For me, one of the most attractive communities, and to which I have dedicated an important volume of my posts, has been this one of Architecture + Design. That has made me take a more critical look at every place I visit, and now it even happens to me when I walk through the streets of my city.
Havana, without a doubt, is a place full of fascinating spaces to know, but even a walk through its streets also offers the possibility of enjoying the architectural design of many of its buildings.

Es conocido por todos los que formamos parte de esta gran plataforma que es Hive, que luego de comenzar a ser miembros de esta enorme familia, la percepción que tenemos sobre nuestro entorno comienza a tener cambios notables. Dejamos de ver nuestra realidad de forma simple, y comenzamos a ser más conscientes de todo lo que nos rodea. Para mí, una de las comunidades más atractivas, y a la que he dedicado un volumen importante de mis post, ha sido esta de Arquitectura + Diseño. Eso me ha hecho tener una mirada más crítica en cada lugar que visito, y ahora incluso me sucede al caminar por las calles de mi ciudad.
La Habana, sin dudas, es un sitio lleno de espacios fascinantes para conocer, pero incluso, un recorrido por sus calles también ofrece la posibilidad de disfrutar del diseño arquitectónico de muchas de sus edificaciones.

Yesterday I was doing some personal errands in Old Havana, and one of the most impressive facades I came across was that of the National Society of the Cuban Red Cross. This place, located on Agramonte Street, has an impressive facade where its large columns and glass windows with white wood stand out.
The entrance door looks very firm and is protected by black bars. I believe that its red color is related to the social purpose of the building, and above it, you can see the insignia that identifies this organization worldwide.

Ayer estuve haciendo varias gestiones personales en La Habana Vieja, y una de las fachadas más impresionantes que encontré a mi paso fue la de la Sociedad Nacional de la Cruz Roja Cubana. Este lugar, ubicado en la calle Agramonte, tiene una impresionante fachada donde resaltan sus grandes columnas y ventanales de cristal con madera de color blanco.
La puerta de entrada se ve muy firme y está protegida por rejas negras. Considero que su color rojo está relacionado con el objeto social del edificio, y encima, se observa la insignia que identifica a esta organización a nivel mundial.

I am particularly impressed by tall buildings, so later, when I reached the complex of stores that are part of the large Manzana Kempinski hotel, I was very pleased with what I saw.
When I stood in the center of this place, and looked up, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the piece of sky that can be seen and also take very nice pictures. This building has a modern design, which is striking for everyone who walks through it. One of the elements that stands out the most is that the elevator is located on the outside of the building, and it is also covered by a blue glass, that allows you to see everything that happens outside.

Particularmente, me impresionan las edificaciones altas, así que más adelante, cuando llegué hasta el complejo de tiendas que forman parte del gran hotel Manzana Kempinski, quedé muy complacida con lo que vi.
Al situarme en el centro de este lugar, y mirar hacia arriba, se puede disfrutar de una vista preciosa del pedazo de cielo que logra divisarse y además, hacer fotos muy bonitas. Este edificio tiene un diseño moderno, que resulta llamativo para todo el que lo recorre. Uno de los elementos que más sobresale es que su ascensor está ubicado en la parte exterior del inmueble, y además, está cubierto por un cristal de una tonalidad azul, que permite mirar ver todo lo que sucede fuera.

Another singular building for me, in my city tour, was one of the family buildings located in one of the corners of Prado Avenue. This place has many of the characteristics that are common to the buildings that exist in this area of the city. They are usually composed of many small apartments, which have balconies with old railings.
This type of buildings are very old, and have even been a source of inspiration for Cuban artists, who have sung to the sheets hanging on their balconies.

Otra edificación singular para mí, en mi paseo citadino, fue uno de los edificios familiares que se encuentra ubicado en una de las esquinas de la avenida Prado. Este lugar tiene muchas de las características que resultan comunes a los edificios que existen en esta zona de la ciudad. Por lo general están compuestos por muchos apartamentos pequeños, que tienen balcones con antiguas barandas.
Este tipo de inmuebles son muy antiguos, e incluso han constituido fuente de inspiración para artistas cubanos, que le han cantado a las sábanas que cuelgan en sus balcones.

Another of the most spectacular facades is the Grand National Theater Alicia Alonso, which is recognized as one of the places with one of the most spectacular architectures in the country. Its balconies have an extreme elegance, and are accompanied by dissimilar sculptures with human forms. The National Museum of Fine Arts also stands out, where its dome never goes unnoticed by passers-by.

Otra de las fachadas más espectaculares la tiene el Gran Teatro Nacional Alicia Alonso, que es reconocido como uno de los lugares con una de las arquitecturas más espectaculares del país. Sus balcones tienen una elegancia extrema, y están acompañados por disímiles esculturas con formas humanas. También destaca el Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, en el que su cúpula jamás pasa inadvertida para el transeúnte.
