I was just thinking this week that the tulip season is almost here again. I was a big fan of it because all those colors in the landscape are just amazing to see. But after walking trough those fields a couple of years in a row, I noticed that there are hardly any insects in them. And if you notice that you cant unseen it any more.
Until one day I was walking there and the flowers felt sticky and they smelt chemical. That was it for me. I went online and tried to figure out what was going on. There I found several studies about the amount of pesticides they used in the tulip bulb industries.
They did a study in thirteen bunches of flowers. they found 71 different kinds of chemical pesticides in them, of which almost half (39 percent) are even banned in the European Union. So that's why you don't see me running in those fields any more. i only use my drone or i look at it from the side lines.
Or side stripes, as this contest s about them.
There I am, sitting in my van, operationg my drone. That's the way i am doing it these day's.
And in the distance there are people walking trough the fields, they are plucking dead tulips so they only have the good once left. If you know about the pesticides, I am sorry for all those workers working the fields.
