The killing fields

in Photography Lovers10 days ago

Hello photo lovers,

It's tulip season again in the Netherlands and that means that the farmers are spraying tons of chemicals and pesticides over the flowers...

Yes, the tulip industries in the Netherlands is the most polluting one in the country. They spray ten times as much pesticides over the tulips then in any other plant business. And every time I was in ore around these fields to take pictures, I realize that there were no bees ore any other insects to bee seen. These fields are completely dead. "The killing fields"

They look so awesome with all those colors but it's completely dead in there. And that just for the money! Spread the word.

All these pictures that you see here were made before I really noticed what was going on in this industries. now I post old pictures every year to spread the awareness.

I knew that when farmers grow crops like corn an wheat etc... it creates a monoculture, and nothing else is allowed to exist... It hadn't occurred to me that these vast fields of tulips would be the same, but of course they are.

At least a field of food crops has the purpose of feeding people, even though thats a poor excuse to kill everything else that could live along side it, but all that effort to grow tulips (and other commercial flowers) just so the flowers can be picked and admired for 2 weeks max, before getting thrown away.

What a waste of effort, what a waste of space!

Yes sure, the pictures are striking, and the colours are amazing... but when you consider what it means to create these... it's such a shame

Thank you for sharing this, I'll never look at these fields of flowers in the same way again

These flowers are shopped of and thrown away. These are grown for their bulbs. And it's even worse in the Netherlands, all the grasland are also monoculture. There is hardly any clovers ore herblike flowers, ect, in those fields, just englishe ray grass.

Oh dear, I didn't know that!
Nice photos though!

the pics are amazing! but now I can only think about people smelling those flowers and inhaling all those chemicals

Indeed, and so many people living close to those fields!

Awesome pictures, seems not even real... But pesticides... We need bees!

Yeah, we need those bees. And the water around it is also polluted.

Yea, pesticides just go down there too
