Holy week Malaga Spain

Hello every body,

I hope you all have a nice weekend. Are you going to do some Easter celebrations? @avdesing reminded me of a trip to Malaga that I did last year. And because of that I tough I could make a nice post about it. It was a very interesting weekend experience that I had there.

Easter weekend

I wanted to travel to Malaga during the Easter holiday's, because I wanted to see those procession that I saw on Natgeo once. The first time that I saw this I tough I saw some footage from 1960 USA. (if you know, you know) But it was in Southerner Europe. And of course it totally had a different meaning. But what do you think if you see this in a little ally in a city?

Holy week is a big thing in Spain and is celebrated in almost every city in the country. During Holy Week (Semana Santa) in Málaga, they celebrate the Passion and death of Jesus, followed by his resurrection.
It is a week full of solemn processions with large statues of Jesus and Mary, carried by brotherhoods. People walk along in traditional robes in different colors. Every brotherhood has got his own robes.

These guys are from the blue brother hood (I made that name up) and they are carrying a big and very heavy statue. They are carrying these heavy statues as a sign of repentance. Penitents, the hooded guys, also wear those pointed capirote hats as a kind of repentance for the sin they have committed or as a reward in which they hope their prayers will come true.

This is the black clan. They are all from different neighborhoods with in the city of Malaga.

And the statue is really very heavy.

I like the contrast between the old and new building and the procession underneath it.

I also was trying to capturing the people who were watching the processions. But it was so busy in the streets that I hardly could take good pictures there. I really do like this one.

It was easier to point my camera up and capture the people watching from their balcony.

These photos from Holy Week in Malaga are stunning. The processions, the colors, the contrasts between old and new buildings... you've captured it all beautifully. I'm drawn to the emotions and traditions behind the celebrations. Great job, and I love the variety of shots you've shared

Thank you 🙏🙏🙏

I don't know why Easter is so important in Spain, here I've never seen things like that, it's like it's more important than Xmas 🤔

Nice pictures to describe what goes on there

During Christmas, he was just a baby, so not so important 😅

🤣

Above all, Jesus was not born on Christmas, this can be easily calculated biblically, even if the date is not written, if you count 6 months from the birth of John, which took place at Passover. Welcome to the scourge of idolatry and big lies.

Aren't these dwarves in hats the Brotherhood of Blood? Carrying body parts through the streets and claiming to have the remains of Jesus? It is more likely that it is the Nimrod, because this event is a Babylonian cult.

Those are great pictures you take, but I wouldn't give up my camera for something like that.

Google told me thos storyline 😅 it was fun to see for once. And a nice opportunity to practice photography

That's what the good Google tells you. LOOl

I like these traditions, you can find many of them in Italy as well. It's nice to gather citizens for a day or two and forget about the rush of life. But those costumes are scary 😬

Haha, do they wear costumes in Italy to?

Of course but those are folk costumes and don't have those scary hats

Thank you very much for the mention!!! Incredible to see the streets like this but in photos of tra person, it's great!!! But yes, since I arrived in the country, this surprised me a lot. Thank you!🤗

Yw, thank you for the travel tips and post idea. I will be in Malaga somewhere this year looking for them.

Thanks to you for the pictures!

What an incredible tradition. Those people in the balconies have premium spots.

Haha, they do, indeed. There was a big square were is stood later in the day and the balconies there were packed.

Cool documentary style shoot. The guys with the pointy hatsa and cov we red faves do look a bit scary to me.

It looked a bit like a clan meating 😅

Interesting procession, never saw something like this before. Thanks for sharing.

It was great strong see. The music and marching, very interesting
