It's not always behind me, but sometimes it is...because I tow it behind my four wheel drive; I mean home...a part time home I guess I should call it.
That's my four wheel drive in the image...I love that thing. It has a beastly twin-turbo V8 diesel engine which I've had performance-tuned and, to put it plainly, it goes like the fucken clappers and has a fucken abundance of power! It's a good thing too because also in the image is my caravan, all three tons of it, so I need the power my vehicle delivers.
Pulling home
Australia is a big country with a lot of wide open spaces and the best way to see it is by road...and a lot of those roads are four wheel drive only.
I like those off-road roads the best and my four wheel drive eats them up even when towing. I've travelled all over this county and stayed in some of the most amazing of spots, remote and far away places, and slept on the ground under the stars for much of that time...but sometimes a little more luxury is needed right? This is where my caravan comes into play; it's nine metres long and three tons of fuck yeah!
It's self-sufficient with 200 litres of fresh water tanks, a grey water tank of 110 litres, 300 amp hour lithium batteries fed by 420 watt solar panels, full kitchen with cooktop grill and oven, queen sized bed and full ensuite toilet, washroom and shower...with a clothes washing machine as well. It's fully insulated, has double glazed windows, CD/Bluetooth stereo with internal and external speakers, LED lighting throughout and externally, reverse-cycle air conditioning, club lounge seating, dining table, DVD Player and TV, Starlink and more...and it's fucken awesome. Outside there's independent dual axle suspension, off road tyres, true-core duragal box chassis, checker plate sides for stone protection, storage areas, outside shower, picnic table, roll out awning and...I think you get the idea. Oh, it's fully Australian made too, something that's important to me.

Pulling home around like this, my mobile one, is something I want to do more and more.
The plan is to work from it, to travel around Australia living wherever the fuck I want to, and working as I go. It's something I've been working towards for a long time and so much effort has gone into making it a reality, and while I'm not quite ready to take off for an extended trip just yet, I look forward to shorter ones until the big trip happens.
I've slept in the dirt, I mean literally, on a bedroll upon the bare ground with a million stars overhead, with a crackling fire beside me and frost and dew settling on my sleeping body; I loved it and will do it again but some comfort is a good thing and my caravan certainly delivers that. I've worked for it so why the fuck not huh?
I'm thinking of doing a post that delves into the caravan a little deeper, with photos as well, at some stage, but for now...well, I'm out pulling my home around so I've got better things to do.
