RE: Kyiv Autumn Vibes (One random autumn day)

It's horrible that the fighting has gone on this long. I really hope there's an end to it soon. I'm glad you have neighbors you can visit with, I'm sure that helps tremendously. I'll be heading out to meet a friend for lunch at Moscow on the Hill tomorrow—despite the name they have a lot of Ukrainian dishes on the menu too. I'll be ordering some vareniki for sure. I hope you're having a good week!

Thank you for stopping by and for your comment, and sorry for my late reply.
To be honest, I don't like the idea of selling Ukrainian products under the Muscovite banner. It is not despite the banner. They are trying to convince the world that Ukraine is Russia.
Vareniki is Ukrainian national food though )) I'm going to make vareniki with sauerkraut tomorrow.

Cheers and !BEER

You're welcome! I think the family that owns this restaurant is actually Ukrainian but they branded the restaurant as Russian in the early 1990s because they felt it was more recognizable to Americans. I see what you're saying though. It's one of those decisions that didn't age well. That sounds so good. My Mom told me this morning that her Mother made vareniki for the family when they were growing up. I just found this recipe for Ukrainian cabbage soup that I plan on trying.
