It is pretty wild to be a supervisor. I had absolutely no input in the hiring of the coworkers in my unit, as we were bandied like a dysfunctional family. We were all broight together with a common purpose at hand which is the growth and continued profitability of our company. Well, making such a unique set of people function as a harmonized unique might come easily to some, but certainly not to me.
Although it wasn't my first major supervisory role, it certainly was a lot bigger than the previous and encompassed a bigger team. I was a bit nervous at the beginning, not really knowing how it would pan out. They all seemed really nice at the beginning, but of course that was prior to understanding their capabilities and personalities in-depth. I
Fast forward to present day and we're still getting along much like day one. The difference is that I've learned a lot more about them and how best to utilize their skills as well as marry their personalities into a harmonized unit. We've had a few disagreements, but I always make it abundantly clear that respect would not be thrown out the window no matter what the disagreements are.
Recent events have really made me understand just how much we get along. I needed referrals to achieve a marketing goal and their support was overwhelming. They certainly can be a handful at times on the job but all in am grateful to have a dedicated bunch of individuals as coworkers.
