Positivity bias. I believe we all have it, even though I It is the negativity bias that is more popular to talk about. Yet the truth is that for me when things are going right, I hope on the highs lasting that much longer. As a matter of fact, I believe I more than hope; I demand that they last longer. The only issue though is that life rarely caters to the ordinary demands that we place on it.
Take for instance when the prices of Hive are on a high. We know there will be an inevitable fall, but the majority of us simply wish it lasts forever, or at least a little longer. Yet when the lows come around we distract ourselves with talks of a rebound even when the lows keep dragging endlessly, like a nightmare we simply refuse to acknowledge. The highs are rather a safe space for us to dream.
In reality though, the anticipated positive outcomes rarely occur the way we want them to. Rather it is the negatives we don't expect that occur. They sometimes comes as a shock to us even when we are fully aware that there is always the tendency for things to go wrong. Making provision for this particular outcome has been a powerful strategy that many have adopted to perfection. The capacity for things to go wrong is something that we should build over the course of time.
If I lose my job today for instance, I'll be in trouble financially. I, probably more than anyone need to take my own advice in this regard and build like I am indeed going to lose it all in the near future.
