Out Walking: From Sizzle to Drizzle!

in Photography8 days ago (edited)

After weeks of hot, dry weather, rain finally hit the moors today. The ground was damp, the air smelled lovely and fresh, and the heather looked much more colourful.

I started my walk on the road, which was wet but quiet and easy to walk along.

Standing by a lone silver birch on the open moor, I could see the purple heather going on forever under the grey sky.

I soon turned off the road and followed the woodland trail into the wood.

Along the path, water had settled on the plants.

The rowan berries were dripping wet, while the leaves were beginning to turn yellow. The wet berries looked bright against the green leaves.

After months of being able to walk around in a t-shirt, I was now wearing a hat and coat after getting caught in a shower. Quite a change!

I walked through the wood for a while, and then decided to make my way back onto the road.

I passed the drystone walls again. I noticed how completely different the countryside felt after the rain. The heatwave might be over for the time being, but I think another hot spell is due in September.
