St Austell Brewery has been around since 1851, and their Proper Job IPA remains one of their most popular beers. I picked up this 500ml bottle from my local supermarket for a snip at £1.95. Since I'm not much of an expert, I decided to enlist some help for this review. I actually brought in the Scooby Doo Gang to "test it out."

Fred and Daphne took charge of security and carefully inspected the bottle top to make sure nobody had tampered with it.

It pours a clear amber colour with a white frothy head. Although, by the time the Gang had turned up, I'd drunk most of the froth! However, I had to keep a close eye on Scooby, as he decided to cock his leg and have a pee against the glass ...

The aroma is a strong citrus (grapefruit), leading into a sharp grapefruit and pineapple flavour. Perfect to quench your thirst in this hot weather we are experiencing. Meanwhile, Daphne couldn't resist getting a closer look and was caught trying to scale the rim of the glass for a cheeky sip.

The good news for me is that on the back of the bottle it explicitly states it is suitable for vegetarians and vegans. Velma even gave the ingredients label her seal of approval.
If you like traditional IPAs with a sharp bitter finish, I would recommend it and would quite happily buy it again.

This is #BeerSaturday week and I would like to invite @derbyshirelad to write a post in any language about beer with at least 3 pictures. Thanks to @detlev for running the contest.
