The sun was back out this morning, so I headed into the woods for a quick walk.
The forest was bright, with sunlight filtering through the trees, showing all the fresh green ferns on the ground.
I kept an eye out for interesting stuff along the trail and spotted a couple of fungi. The first was a smooth, tan bracket fungus sitting on a fallen log. Further down, I found another decayed hoof fungus tucked right into the roots at the base of a tree.
These bright pink willowherb flowers really stood out against the greenery. They have thrived in the sunny conditions this year.
I even spotted an orange leaf which looked as though it was floating in mid-air, but it was actually caught up in a spider's web.
The footpath came to a fork, and I went right and onto a wider gravel trail. Trees and overgrown weeds lined the path all the way down the lane.
Near the end of the path, I came across a little wooden library box right next to a mossy stone wall. It’s a book swap where people can drop off old books or pick up a new one. I thought it was a great idea.
There were a few different books to choose from, and I liked the idea of people leaving books for others to enjoy instead of letting them sit forgotten at home. It was a nice little find at the end of the walk. It was an easy walk and good to get out in the sun for a bit.
