Pic 1000 - “Eulogy”

When you closed your eyes for the last time, I know people expected me to be distraught. Years and years we spent as close as one human and one cat could be. A feline lifetime full of artfully distressed furniture, gifts of lesser creatures, purrs and snuggles. And unexpected mischief. You were a big fan of unexpected mischief.

But toward the end, I knew you suffered. I was in denial for a moment but over time the truth became impossible to ignore. You lost most of your grace, and your sight. Your fur lost its luster. And when I ran out of options to help you, I think we both accepted what had to be done.

So in that sad little room when it was all over, yes, I smiled a little, imagining you in heaven. Maybe they gave you back what I let the vet take when you were little (sorry again about that…) and you're having the time of your life. Or maybe you're exactly how I met you again. The sweetest little ball of fluff, frolicking in a pile of leaves.

Sleep well, little friend.

And so ends my story today. It's a little sad, but sometimes life is a little sad so 🤷🏾‍♀️. If you feel like writing your own story based on the picture prompt, you can head over here for all the details. Feel free to give the cat a less depressing story than I did! Unless of course, you're in that kind of mood too. Follow your heart ❤️

Such a sweet thought you shared. Let's go for the little ball of fluff frolicking around... It's life and this is also the year we think more frequently of those we lost.

That would be a nice ending, thanks 😊
