Graxoth
When the Emperor witnessed the amazing feats I accomplished throughout Terrasia in a matter of months, it was only natural that he should ask about his other problem. The Empress had never once conceived (despite countless enthusiastic imperial attempts). The royal couple possess a curious genetic incompatibility that I am most certainly capable of correcting. But how would that possibly benefit me?
The absence of a legitimate heir fits perfectly with my plans so I gave a wonderful speech about love for the kingdom, the people and all that nonsense and sent them to the orphanage to pick up someone else's spawn. A lesser man might have left this to part up to the two of them but I knew better. I visited the orphanage the day before and there I found two small babies, mirror images of each other sleeping side by side.
“You think the Empress will like them?” Asked the nurse eagerly.
“She'll like this one.” I replied, sprinkling the one on the left liberally with a hormone blend I personally designed. “Hide the other one somewhere else for the day.”
“But surely…”
“The value of a princess lies in exclusivity. She will not attract as much attention if she is one of a matching set. Keep the other alive though. You never know when you'll need a spare.”
The nurse maid shrugged and removed the surplus infant. I had paid handsomely for her indifference after all. The next day went off without a hitch. I arranged for the soon to be princess to be surrounded by the grubbiest and least appealing of her peers and subtly guided the Empress within range.
The rest is history.
Of course the history I explain to Meloria as I sit across from her in the carriage is a little different.

Did you see that? How dastardly 😮!
In other news, I've slowed down a bit on this series so I'm actually only 2 or 3 chapters ahead of you at this point but not for lack of ideas. This story is in my head and it will worm its way out. That might be a little gross but if you've read this far, I'll just assume you don't scare that easily.
Anyway, more is on the way, definitely eventually.
