Still in green form

in Photography Lovers8 days ago

I met this interesting nymph on one of the small trees at the back of my parents's house. It was still morning when I did the macro photowalk back then.

I am not really sure what species of bug will have this kind of nymph, with green color which blend so nicely with the color of the leaves it was resting on.

I was lucky enough to spot it, which other wise will be overlooked so easily because of the beauty of its camouflage.

Another interesting fact that I later learned of this nymph is that the color of this species will be so much different from the nymph stage like this one. (I am not pretty sure though, as there was not much reference that I could use)

But more likely that this green nymph that I found is the nymph of the Gonocerus acuteangulatus is a herbivorous species of true bug in the family Coreidae. It is commonly known as the box bug in the UK as it once only occurred in Box Hill in Surrey where it fed on box trees. Although there is a big chance that it is not the same species, but at least they might be on the same genus or family, so the color and the shape of this nymph will changed drastically when it turn into adult bug.
