Last weekend, our family visited my wife’s hometown in Payangan, Gianyar, Bali. It had been a long time since we’d visited my in-laws. So this was a chance for us to catch up.
We talked about many things, especially regarding the preparations for my brother-in-law’s wedding, which will take place next month.
As seen in the photo above, there are already bamboo poles and woven coconut leaves that will be used as decorations and shade in the yard.
The young people here are working together to gather bamboo and coconut leaves from the fields in preparation for this event. In the village, many people still have fields planted with bamboo and coconut trees. So not everything needs to be bought—they can just take what they need from the fields.
I took the photos above while chatting with my father-in-law’s older brother in the back building, which is used as a motorcycle garage. You can see my father-in-law doing something while occasionally chiming in on our conversation.
