Zizina otis is a small, dull purplish-blue upperwing with a broad black border on the edge in males; in females, it is brown. The underside of the wings is gray with a series of small black spots on the forewings and hindwings. The submarginal markings on both wings are usually scattered and indistinct, distinguishing it from other species of the same genus.

Larva: Zizina otis larvae are cylindrical and green with a dark green stripe on the back and a yellowish stripe along the sides. The head is brown or black, with short setae on the surface of the body. source
