Hello Everyone
Welcome to my weekly Splinterlands post. Usually I say that I make Splinterlands post during weekend, but this time I don't do that. I make this post in midweek. Every week I write about Splinterlands game because I like this game., which I believe Splinterlands is one of the best Play to Earn Game in the world.
Today topic is about speed. I know this is too mainstream topic, that everyone are talking about speed speed and speed every week.
But this time I do not talk about having high speed to kill my opponent faster, before they move first. It is about killing them just by out speed them without doing anything. As it sounds easy, the question is how to do this?
I am going with this Naga Assassin, because she has that back fire ability. That's the ability that I need for this meta. Every missed attack will get 2 melee damage as the penalty, so the more they miss their shoot, the more damage they will suffer from that ability.
There are some condition that I believe I could exploit this ability in certain ruleset. So let's check them out here:
HIGHLIGHTED BATTLE
Ok this is the battle I pick for today topic. These are the ruleset that actually I need to exploit Naga Assassin potential
There are 2 main conditions that fulfil my requirement for the exploitation. Let's start from the first one.
Going The Distance rulest, or Range unit only ruleset. This is very important, because this ruleset eliminates any opportunity mage units to join in this battle. The limitation of range units only battle increase the chance of Backfire to be nullified.
19 Mana Cap. This is the most important one, The small mana cap makes certain cards are very less likely to be used. Here two example of the cards that could breaks my meta easily but they are almost less likely to be used here.
The first one is Dhampir Stalker. This is the most lethal one that could easily wipe out Naga Assassin in one go. Nothing going to stop him except this mana cap. If my opponent used him, he will have a hard time deciding what kind of front line units he want to deploy. There won't be enough mana for a good tank in front.
The second one is Lava Launcher. Actually this is the most dangerous one, because he is a tank and he is hard to kill. The possibility is quite good, but not high. It's a big gamble, because when they use this, I might lose the battle. That's a "MIGHT", not something that given or guaranteed. I take this bet because mostlikely people avoid to use big unit during small mana cap.
So let's see how this battle will proceed
- The battle started with both side buffing their team and debuffing their opponent. Basically this was a battle of 3 vs 3, although I had 4 units, one of them was a martyr who bound to die first.
- They came with 3 range damage. Because this battle had a healout ruleset, small damage should be fine too.
- My team had 4 range damage. It looked like my team had more fire power but we had a lot less health point.
- In general I believed I had the advantage here because their speed was so bad, all were on 1 speed. wait... exception for their Weirding Warrior
- Round 2 was the point where everything started. I managed to get the martyr buff, and this was a game on for me
- See? They started to get backfire melee damage penalty. It was very hard to hit 7 speed unit using a 1 speed... You only have 40% odds to hit her.
- we were entering round 3 here and not much changed from the first round. This all was due to the small damage from both side.
- We arrived at round 4, both of us were in the same condition, all full team but our health point were worrysome. Due to higher speed, my team managed to move first and we killed two of their units here.
- Round 5 was the last round, it's all over here Good Game
so what do we get from this battle?
Overall my opponent meta was not bad, Queen of Crows was actually a good choice for Going the Distance.
She had a close range ability and a headwinds ability. The only problem she has is her weakness which is speed. If only I had used different meta, I might lose that battle. However still, I think Lava Launcher is a better choice than her, and both of them has the same mana requirement. I know why he picked her, because he could get better backline units on Death Element.
OK back to my meta, Although I won convincingly, Naga Assassin alone would not bring that kind of win. There were two other units that took great part in deciding the flow of that battle.
The first one and the most important one was the summoner, Quix The Devious. He debuffed two main important attributes on my opponent:
- The first one was range damage which was the only available attack in this battle. So he made every opponent got a bit weaker.
- The second one was the speed. We were going to exploit backfire ability, any speed gap was very important, because it decided whether the backfire would be triggered or not.
ok now the second important card was this Supply Runner
This card overall is a decent one, but his only ability which is swiftness becomes very important one for my meta. 1 speed buff, that matters a lot. In the end why my Naga Assassin was so evasive and dodged many attacks was due to that swiftness ability too. So yes, he was one of the core of this meta too.
What do you think about this tactic, Backfire from Naga Assassin? A great move or just a lucky shot? Please leave your comment and opinion below. That's all for today post, and Thanks for coming and let's meet in Splinterlands Battles!!
