Safe to say, no man or woman can say they have no dreams. If you ask me, it's part of what makes us humans, and beyond that, it's what makes us see the need to strive towards an end in life. When we take the nighttime to sleep, we dream in those moments. One thing about dreaming is that almost everything becomes possible. Broke people had mansions in dreams, the hungry person ate to their satisfaction, and all kinds of possibilities. Funny, right?
We do laugh and make jokes about what could happen in a dream. Something worth noting is that dreams are free and possible for everyone, but reality dawns on us and makes a different story. However, as humans we are dreamers. Not dreamers in our sleep here, but dreamers of a future, a great life, a successful story.
One without dreams can be equally likened to one without a future. Our aspirations as humans make us dream of a reality we desire to see. Some of the reasons for having such dreams could be as a result of an incident, an ambition, financial stability and the like. And as mentioned, our dreams are a part of our humanity. Everyone has a dream; it's either that we're pursuing those dreams or not.
Like everyone in life, I'll want to be successful. Now, success, we define it in many senses according to our perceptions or life's ordeal. Nevertheless, we all want to achieve that thing called success. I consider that success in life is our ability to achieve the result concerning the tangible dreams we've always had.
It could be about financial capacity, or gaining some level of power and influence, or career progression. For some, it's about travelling the world, gracing some profound platforms, gaining fame and recognition and whatnot. Different people, different dreams, different aspirations. Becoming successful and achieving dreams means a lot to me, as it should to anyone.
Yes, I dream of attaining a level of financial strength; to be able to buy or build that house, buy that car, to be able to meet my needs and what finance will cater for. To be able to build a brand, an enterprise, or a business goes on the list as well. Becoming a successful entrepreneur has been a long-time dream.
Something however goes beyond all of that for me, and that's about living a life that impacts other lives. I believe in our roles to make an impact in the lives of others, be it through our financial services, the power or position we occupy, lending a helping hand and communicating life and hope. When I dream of the initial things mentioned, this is the resolve that comes to mind.
I worked with a boss of mine some years back. He would mostly mention “What would you be remembered for?” It has been a statement that resonated well with me. The current and recent state of things in life has drawn my heart more to the need to hold on to this desire and see it become a reality in any little way.
Well, is the dream an easy one to navigate? No. Have I achieved it? Not really yet. Have I given up on it? Not at all. We all have dreams, but the path to achieving them could be the problem. It's easy to dream of success in life, but attaining it is the big deal. Only those who continue to dream will reach success.
