Where do we stand?

If you were to read my posts, you would probably think the only sport I care about is softball. While is true, I have been writing a lot of posts and using photos referencing softball lately, I do enjoy other sports as well.

For example, I have been written a couple of updates in the past talking about baseball and the Detroit Tigers. Despite a small slump that they had, they are still sitting atop the American League with 50 wins and 30 losses. The closest team to them in the American League is the Houston Astros with 46 wins.

However, in the AL Central, the competition is pretty week with Cleveland sitting behind the Tigers at 39 wins. That's 11 games which may as well be a million. If the Tigers do have a slide here, I hope it is just temporary and it's just a matter of them getting the jitters out now before they make it to the post season. I can handle a mid-season slump as long as you recover and finish strong.

Despite that, Vegas is still giving the Yankees better odds at winning the championship this year. I want to say I am shocked, but I am honestly not.

Meanwhile, over in the National League the Dodgers are sitting at the top with 49 wins and 31 losses. It's lot tighter over there with The Phillies, Cubs, and Mets all with 47, and 46 wins respectively. The National League Central and West look especially stacked with only one team in each league being under 40 wins.

Sadly, Colorado just seems to taking the hits sitting at a horrible 18 wins on the season and 61 losses. Only the White Sox are even close to them with 25 wins. That's just horrible. I'm glad when I went to watch the Rockies play last year I actually got to see them win. It's apparently a rare occurrence these days!

It also probably won't come as a surprise that Vegas is giving the Dodgers the best odds for winning it all this year. At +250 they are blowing everyone out of the water in terms of expectations. I wouldn't hate to see a Tigers/Dodgers World Series, but I guess we shouldn't get too far ahead of ourselves.

Meanwhile, the summer feels like it is already half over and we are believe it or not before too long we are going to be getting started with the World Baseball Classic. I am really looking forward to that. It's always a good time to watch the best teams in the world face off for a true World Series. I can't wait to see how that all shakes out.
