Hello! This post is for Weekly Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge, where every week we write posts that are related to a topic! In this post, I will be discussing my favorite cards in Splinterland's new set, and the topic of this week: Conclave Arcana.
This set has many new cards entering Modern League, and it is important to note that Chaos Legion also leaves modern. Bravetofu kindly shared some card details in this post, where I got the information for the cards. I will be posting about Earth, Life, Dragon and Neutrals, since I already posted about the other elements in this post.
Earth
Fenmoor Platypus
This card costs only 3 mana, while having 3 melee and some nice set of abilities. Reach + Poison helps to take down the enemy tank faster, while Rust is overall a good ability due to armored strike. It is a solid little league card in my opinion as a 2nd positioner.
Folen Flameye
This card is another Tank card for Earth with Flank, which allows 2nd line melee to attack too. Thorns is also nice in most cases. Additionally, Impede allows to debuff the enemy's speed, which makes it easier to target. Overall, Flank, Thorns and high HP makes this card a good Tank, especially in melee battles.
Sylvaran Sentinel
6 mana 4 ranged is good to have, but this also has Camouflage for more survivability. However, the Rebirth ability makes this card unique. Like the other cards with the same ability, this card will be picked more compared to other same mana cards, since that ability alone is pretty good.
Mahkah Hemlig
This legendary card has 4 magic attack for 9 mana. With opportunity, it would be able to target more weaker units on the backline, while Scavenge allows this card to get +1 health, which is crucial considering this card has only 6 HP for 9 mana. Additionally, Triage is always a good healing ability to have. However, the low base HP is still a weakness, so it should utilize the Scavenge ability well to survive long enough.
Light
Calabash Sage
Tank heal is always important. This unit also has Tank heal, but it costs 10 mana which means that it won't be used in mid to low mana battles. However, in high mana battles, it would definitely be important. Additionally, the 5 ranged attack and True Strike (and 1 speed) is also a nice touch.
Happy Quokka
4 mana 4 opportunity melee is already nice to have. However, it also has Weapons Training as a bonus here. Most times this would go in the second position, though. However, if there is low mana + Melee attack ruleset, this card would definitely shine.
Silverleaf Ranger
6 mana Double attack Ranged is similar to Pelacor in CL. However, it has 4 Ranged, Echo as an upside, but Weary as downside. This means that it is more tricky to deal continuous high damage each round. But, if it can, it would be better than the CL's version of this card.
Palifala Weslinath
It is another Mimicker for Life! This has only Ranged attack, while also having Sneak and Close Range. The Mimic makes this card really interesting. However, without Mimic this card's not going to feel strong that much, as it becomes a 3+1 dmg Sneak attacker.
Dragon & Neutral
Desolation
Desolation is definitely one of my favorite Dragons in this set. Not only the card art is amazing, but the abilities also are! I don't know why they put Enrage in Ranged only attacker, but this card's another Flying + Wingbreak which means high backline DPS. Additionally, Pierce ability is also a bonus against high Armor units.
Conclave Artificer
Being the only non-attacker unit, this card will be also soaring in price alongside the other non-attackers in Rebellion. HP and void Armor stat is high, while also having Camouflage, meaning this card has high survivability. It also has Lookout as a bonus.
Quillstorm Mage
This card might be Magi of Chaos, but in 5 mana. It has 2 magic attack and Opportunity and Oppress. It also has my favorite new ability: Painforge. This makes the attack value of this card very high in theory, and it combos well with Opportunity.
Bellowmancer
Last but not least, Bellowmancer is a neutral magic Taunt Tank. It is similar like Mycelic Slipspawn in CL, but has more perks for +1 mana cost. It has Taunt, Void Armor and Reveals enemy Camouflaged units. However, the Shield ability would neglect most of the damage that would be taken, like the Forcefield ability in Mycelic.
Conclusion
And that is all of my favorite cards! I bought some CA packs, to see my luck, and also want some of these cards, and definitely the new Archon (summoners). If you have similar or different ideas about what cards will be great, leave acomment on the comment section :)
