Hello internet people! How are you? During these Holy Week days, many people are on full vacation, others on partial vacation, and some unfortunately don't even have a vacation at all. Some focus their free time on recreation, and others on spiritual and personal growth. But in my particular case, I have a little bit of everything, since I only got a couple of days off this week, but I decided to make the most of them by recharging my batteries with a day out with my family.
¡Hola gente de internet! ¿Cómo están? En estos días de Semana Santa muchas personas están de asueto total, otras parcial y algunas ni siquiera tienen vacaciones desafortunadamente, otras enfocan su tiempo libre hacia la recreación y otras en el crecimiento espiritual y personal, pero en mi caso particular yo tengo un poco de todo eso, ya que me dieron solo un par de días de vacaciones esta semana, pero yo decidí aprovecharlos al máximo recargando energías en un día de paseo junto a mi familia.
I'm usually a city person who prefers rural areas, but I love visiting this park in my city when I really want and need direct contact with nature. It's a large, clean space, monitored by park rangers, with fruit trees, a beautiful forest in the middle of the park, a hidden grotto, stunning scenery, and plenty of fresh air. Despite all that, it's right in the middle of the city. When I was little, I went there a lot, and in fact, it was where my birthdays were always celebrated. So my cousins and I were always running around and trying to climb trees when there wasn't a park ranger nearby 😄. But nowadays, with our obviously busier lifestyles and less free time due to work and daily routines, I wanted to relive those days for a moment.
Normalmente yo soy una persona a la que le gusta más la ciudad que los espacios rurales, sin embargo amo visitar este parque de mi ciudad cuando en serio quiero y necesito un contacto directo con la naturaleza, es un espacio grande, limpio, controlado por guarda parques, hay árboles frutales, un precioso bosque hacia la mitad del parque, una gruta escondida, paisajes bellísimos y mucha frescura, pero a pesar de todo eso está justo en medio de la ciudad. Cuando y era pequeña iba mucho allí y de hecho era en ese lugar donde siempre me celebraban los cumpleaños, así que mis primos y yo siempre estábamos corriendo por ahí e intentando treparnos a los árboles cuando no había algún guarda parque cerca 😄, pero hoy en día que llevamos obviamente un estilo de vida más ajetreado y sin mucho tiempo libre debido al trabajo y la rutina diaria, quise volver un momento a esos días.
When we found a good spot to settle in, we started getting everything ready for lunch. We didn't even want to cook, so we bought fried chicken 😄 but we really needed a day of complete relaxation, and let me tell you, eating like that, surrounded by nature, fresh air, and rest, is priceless. Although it's true that every now and then an annoying fly would appear, hehe. The potatoes weren't that great (and I think my face shows it 😂) but the chicken and everything else was. The best part of the experience was running into one of my cousins there, who was accompanying her daughter to a birthday party for one of her school friends, so we ended up having a really great time.
Cuando encontramos un buen lugar para ubicarnos allí nos asentamos y comenzamos a preparar todo para tomar el almuerzo, ni siquiera quisimos cocinar así que compramos pollo frito 😄 pero es que necesitábamos un día de relajación absoluto, y les digo, no tiene precio comer así, rodeados de naturaleza, aire fresco y descanso, aunque es verdad que de vez en cuando llegaba alguna mosca fastidiosa, jeje. Las papas no estaban tan buenas (y creo que mi cara lo evidencia 😂) pero el pollo y todo lo demás sí lo estaban. Lo mejor de la experiencia fue nos encontramos allí con una de mis primas que estaba allí acompañando a su hija a la celebración del cumpleaños de una de sus amiguitas del colegio, así que la terminamos de pasar muy bien.
Lunch was absolutely delicious, but it was too much food, so we saved some for dinner. My dad, mom, and cousins stayed there to rest and chat while my sister and I explored the park to work off our lunch and aid digestion, taking pictures all the way to the forest.
El almuerzo estaba absolutamente delicioso pero era demasiada comida, así que dejamos algunas piezas para la cena. Mi papá, mi mamá y mis primas se quedaron allí a descansar un poco mientras hablaban mientras mi hermana y yo nos dedicamos a recorrer el parque para bajar un poco la comida y mejorar la digestión, íbamos tomando fotos en todo el camino hacia el bosque.
My sister and I found one of the beautiful bridges in the park over the Cabriales River, which runs through the city from north to south. The river is very polluted these days, unfortunately, but it still offers a lovely view. These bridges used to have wooden decks, but now they're made entirely of concrete.
Mi hermana y yo encontramos uno de los bellísimos puentes que tiene el parque sobre el río cabriales que atraviesa la ciudad de norte a sur. El río está muy contaminado hoy en día, lamentablemente, pero aún así ofrece un lindo paisaje. Estos puentes antes tenían la superficie de madera, pero ahora los hicieron completamente de concreto.
Finally, in the afternoon we gathered our things and left the park, but I needed that direct contact with nature, the birdsong and the grass under my feet; I feel like it recharged my batteries after my long workdays. It was like a haven of calm to start later with more energy.
Finalmente, por la tarde recogimos nuestras cosas y nos fuimos del parque, pero y necesitaba ese contacto directo con la naturaleza, el canto de las aves y el pasto bajo mis pies, siento que me recargó las baterías luego de mis largas jornadas laborales, fue como un remanso de calma para iniciar después con más ganas.
