It feels so nice to feel the sun on my skin again. The temperature is starting to rise. This has been an unusual winter on Spain’s Costa Tropical, where I currently live. It’s been a long winter, with low temperatures, storms with strong winds, and a lot of rain. Generally speaking, it doesn’t rain much in Andalusia, not even in the winter. That’s why tourists from Spain and Northern Europe visit us for much of the year. Especially in the summer. Although the sea is still too cold for swimming. And there’s a cold wind blowing, which seems to come from the Sierra Nevada in Granada.

Today, when I visited Motril, the temperature in the morning was 14 degrees, and when I returned at 2:00 p.m., it was 20 degrees. The cold weather has left me feeling sluggish and caused me to gain a few pounds. We’re also getting more hours of sunlight now. The sun comes up earlier, and it’s still light out around 8:00 p.m. In winter, the sun rises later and sets earlier.

In addition to the return of warmer weather, the flowers are also heralding the arrival of spring. Small yellow flowers are already beginning to appear in the fields near my home, brightening them up. The city council has decorated some gardens with beautiful planters filled with flowers of various colors. And so, some trees and shrubs are also beginning to bloom. The avocado trees in our backyard are blooming. On the main street in La Herradura, cayenne flowers and other blooms are starting to appear. I’ll share some photos I took so you can enjoy their beauty too.

AAs the spaces fill with flowers, birds appear to feed on their nectar. This morning I woke up to the sound of birds singing very close to my window. Their cheerful song brings joy to the soul. Just a few days ago, we also saw a bird gathering twigs to build a nest. With the arrival of spring, new birds are born, and we’ll see them flying among the trees and near the flowers. Qué agradable sentir de nuevo el sol en la piel. La temperatura empieza a subir. Este ha sido un invierno inusual en la Costa Tropical de España, donde resido en la actualidad. Ha sido un invierno largo, con temperaturas bajas, tormentas con vientos fuertes y mucha lluvia. Por lo general, no llueve mucho en Andalucía, ni siquiera en el invierno. Por eso buena parte del año los turistas de España y del norte de Europa nos visitan. Especialmente en el verano. Aunque aún el mar está frío para bañarse. Y se siente un viento frío, que al parecer viene de la Sierra Nevada en Granada.

Hoy, cuando visité Motril, la temperatura en la mañana estaba en 14 grados y al regresar a las 2 pm estaba en 20 grados. A mí las bajas temperaturas me han tenido con baja energía y me engordaron varios kilos. Así también tenemos más horas de sol. Hay luz solar más temprano, y todavía cerca de las 8:00 pm hay luz. En invierno tarda en salir el sol y se pone más temprano.

Además del regreso de mejores temperaturas también las flores anuncian la llegada de la primavera. Ya comienzan a verse en los campos cercanos a casa pequeñas flores amarillas que los alegran. El ayuntamiento ha ornamentado algunos jardines con bonitas jardineras con flores de diversos colores. Y así también algunos árboles y arbustos comienzan a florecer. Los árboles de aguacate que están en el patio de casa están floreciendo. En la calle principal de La Herradura empiezan a verse cayenas y otras flores. Al llenarse los espacios con flores aparecen los pájaros que las liban. Esta mañana me desperté escuchando pájaros cantar muy cerca de la ventana de casa. su canto alegre hace feliz al alma. Así también, hace pocos días vimos un pájaro buscando ramitas para construir un nido. Con la primavera nacen nuevos pájaros que veremos volar entre los árboles y cerca de las flores.
