Hello everyone, good morning. In recent weeks, we've been observing some very drastic changes in the temperature and climate of the eastern plains region. As we all know, Venezuela has two climatic periods: wet and dry; that is, the rainy season and the hot season.
The rainy season extends from April to November, and the remaining period encompasses the dry season, where occasional light rains occur, especially in December. Regarding the rainy season, the first light rains begin in mid-April but then stop at the beginning of May. This is the time when the araguaney trees are in bloom. The first rains usually fall a few days before Easter, and then they disappear again until they return in full force.
But let's talk about the drastic changes in temperature and climate in recent weeks. I was able to investigate, and there isn't a heat wave in Venezuela right now; however, temperatures in this area have risen dramatically, between 37° and 39° Celsius. Some mornings have started very cold, with a strong breeze and rain, which is normal for this time of year. But sometimes a drizzle lasts less than five minutes, and then the temperature changes drastically from cold and a cool breeze to excessive heat and a lot of steam in the air, to the point of fogging up my glasses.
Sunrise is coming later than usual, but this is understandable given the Earth's rotation. What is noticeable, though, is the intense sun early in the morning, accompanied by very strong winds. I thought these pronounced changes were somehow related to the last lunar eclipse on March 3rd of this year, but I researched the relevance of eclipses to climate change, and lunar eclipses don't influence these variations, unlike solar eclipses, which do affect temperature, but not by increasing it.

According to reports on the web, the heat wave in Venezuela for 2026 would begin on March 21st, with temperatures potentially exceeding 39°C (102°F), and would extend throughout April and into early May. Heat wave since March 21 - El Universal This information is concerning because daytime temperatures are already very high, as I mentioned before, reaching 39°C in this eastern region. So, during the heat wave that begins next week, the forecasts for how high they might get are worrying. Is there a possibility that it could rise even further?
This impending heat wave is concerning, especially with the rainy season just around the corner. I, for one, am waiting to see how these abrupt changes in weather and temperature will continue. The most common tips are to stay constantly hydrated, wear light, soft clothing, stay in cool, well-ventilated places, avoid prolonged direct sun exposure, and use sunscreen, among many other recommendations.

Hola a todos, muy buenos días. En estas últimas semanas hemos estado observando unos cambios muy drásticos en la temperatura y el clima de la zona llanera oriental. Como ya todos sabemos, Venezuela presenta dos periodos climáticos que son húmedo y seco; o sea, temporada lluviosa, y temporada de calor.
La temporada de lluvia se extiende desde el mes de abril hasta el mes de noviembre, y el periodo restante abarca la temporada de sequía, donde algunas veces se dejan ver algunas lloviznas intercaladas, sobre todo en el mes de diciembre. Con respecto al periodo lluvioso, desde mediados de abril comienzan a llegar las primeras lluvias escasas pero se estacionan a principios del mes de mayo. Ésta es la época de ver a los araguaneyes en flor. Siempre días antes de Semana Santa, suelen caer las primeras lluvias, y se vuelven a ausentar hasta que hacen su acto de presencia por completo.
Pero hablemos de los cambios drásticos en la temperatura las últimas semanas, y del clima también. Pude indagar y no hay ola de calor ahora mismo en Venezuela, más sin embargo, las temperaturas en esta zona han ascendido drásticamente entre los 37º y los 39º. Algunos amaneceres han iniciado con mucho frío, bastante brisa y tiempo lluvioso, eso se podría decir que ya es normal para esta fecha, pero a veces surge una llovizna de menos de 5 minutos y luego la temperatura cambia radicalmente de frío y brisa fresca a un calor excesivo y mucho vapor en el ambiente hasta el punto de empañar los vidrios de mis lentes.
Está amaneciendo más tarde de lo común, pero se entiende que esto se debe al movimiento de rotación de la tierra… lo que sí es connotativo, es el sol bastante intenso a primera hora del día con vientos muy fuertes. Pensé que estos cambios tan acentuados estaban relacionados de alguna manera con el último eclipse lunar del día 3 de marzo de este año pero investigué la relevancia de los eclipses en los cambios climáticos y los eclipses lunares no influyen en estas variaciones, a diferencia de los eclipses solares que si tienen relevancia sobre la temperatura pero no para aumentarla.

Según reportes en la web, la ola de calor en Venezuela para este año 2026, estaría comprendida desde el 21 de marzo con temperaturas que pueden sobrepasar los 39º y se extendería por todo el mes de abril y principios de mayo. Es preocupante esta ola de calor en puerta, aún con la entrada de la temporada lluviosa. Al menos yo, estoy a la expectativa de cómo se seguirán dando ahora estos cambios bruscos de clima y temperatura. Los tips más comunes son hidratarse constantemente, usar ropa ligera de tela suave, mantenerse en sitios frescos y ventilados, no exponerse directamente al sol por tiempo prolongado, y usar protector solar, entre muchas otras recomendaciones.
