Sobre una superficie blanca, reposa el esqueleto metálico de una esperanza. El amigo @lanzjoseg sostiene, quizás con las manos manchadas de esa grasa que huele a esfuerzo, un kit de embrague marca Wolf, modelo 650605. Para el ojo desprevenido, son solo tres piezas de acero y fricción: el plato, el disco y el rodamiento. Pero en el contexto de la Venezuela actual, este conjunto de repuestos es un microcosmos de una nación que intenta, desesperadamente, meter una nueva velocidad sin que la caja de cambios salte en mil pedazos.

Cambiar el "croche" es, en esencia, renovar la capacidad de conexión. Es el puente entre la potencia del motor y la inercia de las ruedas. Durante años, la economía venezolana ha estado "patinando". El motor de la producción rugía, o al menos lo intentaba, pero la fuerza no llegaba al asfalto. La hiperinflación actuó como un disco desgastado: por más que se aceleraba el gasto público y la emisión de billetes, el país no avanzaba; se ha quedado estático en una nube de humo con olor a asbesto quemado.

La imagen nos muestra piezas nuevas, brillantes, listas para ser instaladas. Para mí, representan esa búsqueda de calidad en medio de la incertidumbre. @lanzjoseg se enfrenta al dilema de todo ciudadano: buscar lo original o conformarse con lo que el bolsillo permite, sabiendo que en la durabilidad de esa pieza descansa su movilidad diaria. Esta es la misma disyuntiva política que vive el país. ¿Venezuela está instalando un sistema "original" que garantice estabilidad, o es solo un repuesto de marca genérica diseñado para durar hasta la próxima crisis?

Existe una dualidad de precios —esa brecha abismal entre el billete verde y el Bolívar devaluado—; es la fricción que desgasta el sistema antes de ser estrenado. Pagar el doble por usar la moneda nacional es el impuesto al desajuste, una penalización por no estar "sincronizado" con la moneda global. Aquí es donde mi reflexión sobre la dolarización cobra una fuerza mecánica. En Canadá, la estabilidad es el aceite que permite que los engranajes giren sin ruido. En Venezuela, la falta de una moneda ancla es como intentar conducir un vehículo con arena en la transmisión.

La posibilidad de una dolarización formal, y de un nuevo sistema de gobierno que actúe como este kit de embrague sugiere una promesa de fluidez-esperanza. Si el país logra "embragar" correctamente con las dinámicas económicas del mundo real, los precios de enero serían, por fin, los mismos en noviembre.

Instalar este kit 618 2169 00 es más que solo reparar un carro; es un acto de fe. Es creer que, tras el montaje, el pedal se sentirá suave, que la marcha entrará sin chirridos y que, finalmente, el vehículo —ese que llamamos país— dejará de estar estacionado en el garaje de la historia para empezar a rodar hacia un destino de normalidad y equilibrio. Ojalá que esta vez, el repuesto sea el adecuado para el terreno que le toca transitar a mi querido país natal.

To the untrained eye, it's just three pieces of steel and friction: the pressure plate, the disc, and the release bearing. But in the context of present-day Venezuela, this set of spare parts is a microcosm of a nation desperately trying to shift into a new gear without the transmission exploding into a thousand pieces.

Changing the clutch is, in essence, renewing the connection. It's the bridge between the engine's power and the wheels' inertia. For years, the Venezuelan economy has been "skating." The engine of production roared, or at least tried to, but the power never reached the asphalt. Hyperinflation acted like a worn-out record: no matter how much public spending and money printing increased, the country didn't move forward; it remained stagnant in a cloud of smoke smelling of burnt asbestos.

The image shows us new, shiny pieces, ready to be installed. For me, they represent that search for quality amidst uncertainty. @lanzjoseg faces the dilemma of every citizen: to seek the original or settle for what their budget allows, knowing that their daily mobility depends on the durability of that piece. This is the same political dilemma the country is experiencing. Is Venezuela installing an "original" system that guarantees stability, or is it just a generic replacement designed to last until the next crisis?

There is a duality of prices—that abysmal gap between the US dollar and the devalued Bolívar—; it is the friction that wears down the system before it is even used. Paying double for using the national currency is the tax of mismatch, a penalty for not being "in sync" with the global currency. This is where my reflection on dollarization takes on a mechanical force. In Canada, stability is the oil that allows the gears to turn smoothly. In Venezuela, the lack of an anchor currency is like trying to drive a vehicle with sand in the transmission.

The possibility of formal dollarization, and of a new system of government that acts like this clutch kit, suggests a promise of fluidity—hope. If the country manages to "engage" correctly with the economic dynamics of the real world, January prices would finally be the same in November.

Installing this kit 618 2169 00 is more than just repairing a car; it's an act of faith. It's believing that, after the assembly, the pedal will feel smooth, the gears will engage without squeaking, and that, finally, the vehicle—the one we call a country—will leave its parking spot in the garage of history and begin rolling toward a destination of normalcy and balance. I hope that this time, the replacement part is the right one for the terrain my beloved homeland is about to traverse.
