Friday April 25, 2025 - Yellow Flash, a YouTube pop-culture critic launched the Mighty Gold Patriot graphic novel on RippaSend, a pre-order and fulfillment service offered by Rippaverse Comics. As of April 29, 2025 the campaign has preorders for 2,125 graphic novel and has collected $59,252 in sales (not including shipping and fees). Including shipping and tax the campaign has raised approximately $77,000. At the beginning of 2024 Yellow Flash had a falling out with Ethan Van Sciver and his crowdfunding promotional group and brand Comicsgate. Van Sciver spent much of 2024 through today targeting Yellow Flash and Eric July's Rippaverse with negative content on his YouTube Channel and social media platforms. Van Sciver proclaimed that The Mighty Golden Patriot launch was a complete failure and that Yellow Flash should have stayed in Comicsgate.
Does the data support that? Let's take a look.
How are Comicsgate Indiegogo Crowdfunding Numbers in 2025?
If Yellow Flash had stayed closely aligned with the contentious group Comicsgate he likely would have support from their channels, and would have crowdfunded The Mighty Golden Patriot on the Indiegogo platform. Because of the animosity Van Sciver and friends have directed at Eric July and fans of the Rippaverse, it is unlikely he would have had any substantial supporters from that segment. Let's look at Comicsgate Indiegogo numbers in 2025.

TOTALS | $1,926,956 | $2,254,574 | $327,618 |
In 2025 Comicsgate has raised a total of $327,168 on the Indieogo Platform as of April 29, 2025. The best performing project is "Cyberfrog: Dark Harvest Last Chance!" by Ethan Van Sciver, with $59,868 raised from 701 backers. That total includes fees and shipping, so if we compare the similar total from Mighty Golden Patriot of ~$77,000, Yellow Flash has blown past Comicsgate's best performing project on Indiegogo in less than five-days. Mighty Golden Patriot has at least a $17,000 lead on the top Comicsgate project on Indiegogo in 2025.
Had Yellow Flash not broken away from Comicsgate he likely would have made less money, and have had still had to secure his own fulfillment service. Mighty Golden Patriot will likely sell thousands of books before the campaign is complete and that is simply to large an order to attempt to self fulfill from a residence. At that scale a warehouse and a professional fulfillment team are needed. Eric July's RippaSend makes perfect sense in this scenario.
Opinion
It is possible that Van Sciver is upset that Yellow Flash's audience has split from Comicsgate, and diminished the Comicsgate market. Yellow Flash's audience likely has stronger overlap with Eric July's Rippaverse fans. Because Comicsgate engages in persistent conflict marketing and targets its "enemies" for annoyance, alignment with Comicsgate in 2025 appears to be a poor ethical choice, and simply bad business.
